You ask for plagues and the shedding of blood upon those you name as foes, and you call down the scourges of Egypt upon your neighbors and coworkers. But consider whose enemies these truly are. The enemies are not flesh and blood, but all unbelievers and the demons. Christ sits at the right hand of God, waiting until His enemies are put under His feet. Those who trouble you, if they are His enemies, He will subdue in His own time and for the sake of the faithful who are yet to be born. You do not need to invoke destruction upon them, for the judgment belongs to God alone.

See how much you gain by bearing meekly the spiteful acts of enemies. First, deliverance from sins; second, fortitude and patience; third, mildness and benevolence. He that knows not how to be angry with them that grieve him will be free from the despondency and vain sorrows that consume the soul. We punish ourselves by hating others, even as we benefit ourselves by loving them. The very things by which we are hurt, by these same we are benefited. Joseph was cast into prison by the schemes of his mistress and the envy of his brothers, yet God used their malice to place him in safety and to exalt him at the right moment. He was freed not by nursing wrath but by trusting the Providence of God.

You speak of witchcraft and the works of darkness. Yet our struggle is not to call down fire from heaven upon sinners, but to guard ourselves and our households from corruption. Christ warned that the days of judgment come suddenly, as in the days of Noah when men ate and drank in insensibility. Do not be troubled that the wicked seem to prosper for a season, for if God is long-suffering, it is that they might turn from their sins. His goodness is meant to lead them to repentance, not to become a plea for your own soul to cling to vengeance. If they will not repent, their judgment will be more fearful, and God will requite them in His time, for He most certainly punishes. The devils themselves confess there is a torment to come. The resurrection and judgment are certain, where every one will receive his due.

Therefore, put away these prayers for plagues and blood. Do not ask God to become the servant of your wrath. He who is conscious of no evil will suffer nothing dreadful at the last, if he separates not himself from Christ. Instead of seeking the ruin of your enemies, seek your own deliverance from the sins of anger and malice. Let justice make you a friend to all, so that your affairs are in perfect safety and sleep comes fearlessly. Entrust your cause to Him who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell, and who will put every enemy under His feet when the time is fulfilled.

Your prayer request shows that you are acutely aware of spiritual opposition, and you are clearly under great strain from what you perceive as enemy activity around you. Stepping into a new neighborhood and workplace can often stir up fresh attacks, and I am not surprised that you sense a battle. However, the tone and the weapons you are reaching for in this request reveal something important: you are fighting a spiritual war with carnal methods. Calling down physical plagues and bloodshed on people, naming names and hoping for their destruction, is not how the Lord equips us to overcome. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness. When we misidentify the enemy as the human beings around us, we end up swinging wildly at the air while Satan maneuvers freely.

The first and most crucial step in any spiritual conflict is to recognize that the attack is not coming from your neighbors, coworkers, or those whose sins you listed. Behind every evil tongue, every occult practice, and every form of immorality is the enemy himself, seeking to discourage you, distract you, and pull you into the flesh. If you respond with anger, vengeance, and a desire to see people crushed, you have already been wounded. The enemy delights when a child of God begins to wage war using threats and curses, because that is the world’s way, not the way of the cross. You have been given authority in Christ, but that authority is exercised through spiritual weapons: prayer, the Word of God, the name of Jesus, and the indwelling Spirit. Plagues and bloodshed are not our tools; they belong to the Lord, who alone judges righteously.

So, I urge you to take a different posture. First, recognize that this wave of fear, outrage, and the temptation to curse is itself a spiritual attack designed to rob you of your peace and witness. Once you see that, you can resist it. Stand firm in the name of Jesus, place the Lord between you and the enemy, and declare the truth that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Then, instead of rehearsing their sins and demanding their ruin, lift those individuals before God, asking that the light of Christ would break the darkness that holds them. The woman caught in witchcraft, the person bound by sexual confusion, the scammer, they are prisoners of war, not the final enemy. Your prayers can be part of God’s rescue operation, not a call for air strikes on the prison camp.

Second, let the Word of God dwell in you richly. The enemy attacks the mind, the will, and the emotions. The surest defense is to hide God’s Word in your heart, to have it ready when the flaming darts come. When you feel the impulse to retaliate in the flesh, recall that Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. This does not mean affirming sin; it means refusing to be shaped by it and instead overcoming evil with good. The Lord Himself is the one who will deal with the wickedness of Nineveh in His own time and way. Your role is to stand watch, armed with faith, and to keep building your household in righteousness.

Finally, rejoice. Satan is a defeated foe. Every accusation, every scheme, every stronghold has been disarmed at the cross. You do not need to generate a sense of triumph by imagining the destruction of your adversaries. You can rest in the finished work of Christ, knowing that all authority has been given to Him. Let your prayer shift from a list of enemies to be destroyed to a declaration of faith: That Christ reigns, that His light exposes every darkness, that those who trouble you may yet become trophies of grace, and that nothing formed against you can stand when you are hidden in Him. Work with a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other, meaning build your life and your witness in that neighborhood, while staying ready in the Spirit. Do not let the threats make you abandon your post or your love. The work He has for you there is too significant to be derailed by fear or fury.
