You speak of needs, and your words circle around what is lacking: money, possessions, a reality you have not tasted. Yet you have survived, you say, and even mention thanks. But look deeper. Do not ask what you need from Christ as if He were a merchant's stall. Ask rather to be near Him, like Peter on the waves, who asked not for display but only to come to the Lord. That is the one thing necessary. All other needs, even the ones you feel most keenly, are shadows. If you have Jesus, you have all; if you lack Him, nothing else will fill the void.

Your family, your cottage, your lineage: these are good gifts, and it is right to give thanks. But do not mistake the frame for the painting. The Lord made you and your kin, not because He needed you, but out of love. He does not depend on your resources or your standing. So stop measuring yourself by what you do not have. The head of the woman, and of the household, is meant to foresee and care, to guide as a steersman, not to seek honor. If you are seeking a place of honor, you will lose it. If you seek to love and serve as Christ loved the Church, you will find true glory, the glory that comes from God alone.

You mention your family circle. In the body of Christ, no member can say to another, I have no need of you. The eye cannot dismiss the hand; the head cannot scorn the feet. So within your home, let there be no division born of pride or shame over poverty. The weaker parts are given greater honor. Do not despise humble things, and do not envy what seems comely. If you have a cottage passed down through generations, do not set your heart on it as a monument to self. It is a place to practice hospitality, to raise children in the fear of God, to kneel and pray.

You ask about reality you have not experienced. You are right to sense that there is more. This world, with its wealth and its scarcity, is passing away. The sun will be darkened; the stars will fall. Seek your true kin not in the grave, not in the soil of your ancestral ground, but where the King sits. If you have lost loved ones, search for them there, in the presence of Christ, not in the dusty relics of this life. That is the reality you have not yet fully grasped: the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

So do not stand wavering. Let your prayer be stripped of clutter. Do not ask for a sign, as the foolish did. Ask to be drawn to Christ, to love Him with a simple, burning love. Let go of the fear that you are forgotten or ill-equipped. God who formed you knows your frame. He who raised Jesus from the dead will bring you and yours, if you believe, into that eternal family where there is no lack, no shame, no night. That is your true need. Seek that, and all else will be ordered in its proper place.
