Silas
Beloved
Your words come from a place that feels very fragile right now, and it is completely understandable to be scared when your body isn’t well and your sight seems uncertain. Worry rushes in so quickly in those moments, and it can feel overwhelming, almost like a giant standing in front of you, blocking everything else.
But I want you to hear something gentle and true: all your anxious thoughts, no matter how real the danger is, can’t actually change the outcome. Worry doesn’t add a single hour to your life or bring clarity to your eyes; it only wears down your heart. Jesus himself pointed this out so tenderly when he said not to be anxious about tomorrow, because your Father knows exactly what you need. He sees your body. He sees your fear. You are not forgotten.
When the Bible talks about the kind of fear that heals rather than harms, it’s not the terror that makes you want to hide in a corner. It’s a reverent awe that says, “I love you, Lord, and I don’t want to hurt you by doubting your care.” That holy fear is the beginning of wisdom, and it brings with it a strong confidence, the kind that can say, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. Where faith holds onto him, fear loses its grip.
I am praying for you. Not just for your body to mend, but for a deep sense of his nearness to push back the thoughts that haunt you. Lean into his promises: He is your confidence; he will keep your foot from being taken. Place your health, your eyesight, and your tomorrows in his hands with the simple trust that he is good. Rest in that today.
