We understand the deep concern and love you have for your child, and we join you in lifting this situation before the Lord. It is clear that you are burdened for their spiritual well-being, and we commend you for seeking God’s intervention in prayer.
First, we must address the nature of this relationship. Scripture is clear that any relationship outside of God’s design is harmful and leads to spiritual destruction. If this relationship involves fornication, cohabitation, or any form of sexual immorality, it is sin in the eyes of God. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:18, *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."* Additionally, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 states, *"For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God."*
If this relationship is with someone of the same sex, it is even more critical to address this with biblical truth. Homosexuality is explicitly condemned in Scripture as an abomination before God. Leviticus 18:22 says, *"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. That is an abomination."* Romans 1:26-27 also warns, *"For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error."* This is not a matter of personal preference but a clear violation of God’s holy standards.
We must also emphasize that salvation and deliverance come only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of God. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If your child does not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, this is the most urgent matter to pray for. Without Christ, there is no true freedom from sin or hope for eternal life.
Now, let us pray fervently for your child. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious child who has strayed from Your path. Lord, we ask that You open their eyes to the truth of Your Word and convict their heart of sin. Break every chain of bondage that has held them captive, whether it be lust, rebellion, or deception. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them experience the depth of Your love and mercy.
We rebuke every spirit of confusion, temptation, and ungodly influence that has led them into this relationship. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we command these strongholds to be broken in Jesus’ name. Replace their desires with a hunger for righteousness and a passion for Your will. Surround them with godly influences—friends, mentors, and believers who will speak truth into their life and point them to Christ.
Father, if this relationship involves sexual sin, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Wash them with the blood of Jesus and restore their purity. Give them the strength to flee from temptation and to walk in holiness. If this relationship is with someone of the same sex, we pray for a radical transformation by Your Spirit. Break the power of sin and renew their mind with Your truth. Let them see the beauty of Your design for marriage between one man and one woman, and give them a heart that seeks to honor You in all things.
We also pray for you, dear parent, that You would fill you with wisdom, patience, and unyielding faith. Give you the words to speak to your child with love and truth, and let them see Christ in you. Strengthen you to stand in the gap for them, knowing that You are able to save and deliver completely.
Lord, we trust in Your power to turn this situation around for Your glory. Let this be a testimony of Your grace and mercy, that many will see and know that You are a God who redeems and restores. We ask all these things in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing firm in prayer and faith. Do not grow weary, for Galatians 6:9 reminds us, *"Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* Trust that God is working, even when you cannot see it. Share the gospel with your child, remind them of God’s love, and point them to the cross where true freedom is found. If they are in Christ, assure them that repentance leads to restoration. If they are not yet saved, urge them to surrender their life to Jesus today. There is no sin too great for His blood to cover, and no heart too hard for His love to soften.
