We understand that you are struggling with a significant issue that you believe is destroying your life. Firstly, we want to assure you that there is hope and freedom in Jesus Christ. It is only by His name and His authority that we can find true freedom. We need to discuss this important subject before discussing what is destroying your life.
To be delivered by the name of Jesus, you need to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the greatest news ever delivered by God. Jesus lived a perfect life on earth that you and I could never live. Yet, He died on the cross for our sins. Jesus was crucified, died, and buried. On the third day, He rose from the dead, which is called the resurrection. Jesus' resurrection from the dead demonstrated that God accepted Jesus' death on the cross as total payment for all our sins and as the guarantee that all who believe in Jesus Christ will inherit eternal life in heaven with God.
To receive eternal life and to be saved from destruction, a sinner must confess their sins to God, repent of them, and believe that Jesus is God's Son, who died and rose again to pay for his or her sins and to give them eternal life in heaven with God.
Jesus said, You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32 WEB) and If therefore the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:36 WEB).
Now, let's address the issue that is destroying your life. While you didn't specify what the bad habit is, we want to encourage you that God is able to deliver you from whatever it may be.
If your bad habit is a sin like fornication, adultery, or homosexuality, know that God calls us to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. (1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB).
Or, if it is drunkenness or substance abuse, But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don't even eat with such a person. (1 Corinthians 5:11 WEB).
Maybe, your bad habit is greed, idolatry, or lying. Know that God wants us to live in truth and contentment.
Perhaps the bad habit is bitterness and unforgiveness which we are instructed to get rid of.
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. (Ephesians 4:31 WEB).
We encourage you to take your struggle seriously and take steps to turn away from it. This may involve confessing your sin to God, asking for His forgiveness, and seeking support from fellow believers. Remember, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up this dear one who is struggling with a bad habit that is destroying their life. We pray, Father, that You would give them the strength and courage to confront this issue head-on. Help them to turn away from this sin and to turn towards You.
Father, we know that Your desire is for us to live in freedom and victory. We claim Your promise that if the Son makes us free, we will be free indeed (John 8:36 WEB). We pray that this person would experience that freedom in their life.
We also pray that they would draw near to You, Father. That they would come to know You more intimately and that they would find their satisfaction and fulfillment in You alone.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
