Let us address this question with a heart centered on God's word and a spirit of unity. We must remember that God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours. It is only through His word as a whole and His son Jesus that these things are revealed to us. It is only in Jesus Christ (IJN) that these things can be understood.
Firstly, let us consider God's patience and long-suffering. God is not eager to destroy anyone. It is written in Ezekiel 33:11, As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn you, turn you from your evil ways; for why will you die, house of Israel? And 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. God's seeming delay is merely an opportunity for more people to come to repentance, to turn to Jesus for salvation.
Now, regarding the other viewpoint, we must firmly stand on the truth of God's word. Those who deny a day of judgment must consider the numerous scriptures that clearly outline this event. It is written in Hebrews 9:27, Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment. This is reiterated by Jesus himself in Matthew 25:31-46, where He speaks of the separation of the sheep from the goats, the righteous from the wicked. To deny this judgment is to deny the words of Jesus Christ and the scriptures.
God's justice and mercy coexist perfectly in His character. His mercy is extended to us through Jesus Christ, who took our punishment upon himself. It is written in Romans 5:8, But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. However, those who reject this mercy will face His justice. It is written in Romans 2:4-5, Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God.
We pray for unity among believers, that we all come to the fullness of the stature of Christ. We pray for revelation and understanding, that the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. We pray for a heart of compassion and love, that we may be lights in this dark world, pointing others to Jesus. We pray for patience and long-suffering, that we may reflect God's character. We pray for a renewed sense of urgency, that we may make the most of every opportunity to share the gospel. We pray for a spirit of boldness, that we may stand firmly on the truth of God's word. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
