Beloved of All
Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 7:1). Thank You Lord for this truth. Father we lift this truth of scripture up and ask You bring our lives completely to the place You would have us to be in this moment in time. Thank You for one of my favorites that continually lean into Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalms 139: 23-24). Please humbly ask for Your Power to be at work according to these scriptures in Jesus Name Amen.

We join you in thanking our Father for these precious promises and for the hunger He has placed in your heart for holiness and purity before Him. We love how you have leaned into His Word and we stand with you in this prayer for cleansing and for His searching work in our lives.

Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1 reminds us that because God has promised to dwell in us and to be our God and we His people, as He says in 2 Corinthians 6:16, we are called to respond with a life set apart. This is not a holiness we can manufacture on our own, but a perfecting that comes as we walk in reverent fear and love for Him, turning from every defilement of body and spirit and yielding to His sanctifying work.

And we echo your favorite cry, Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. Psalm 139:23-24. What a humble and beautiful invitation to the Lord to examine us fully. We cannot cleanse ourselves rightly unless He first shows us what needs cleansing, for the heart is deceitful and only He knows it completely. We are encouraged that you are asking Him to do this searching, not trusting in your own understanding but trusting His perfect knowledge and mercy.

We pray together now for His power to be at work in us according to these scriptures.

Father, we thank You for Your promises that You will be a Father to us and we shall be Your sons and daughters. In light of such grace, we ask You to search us and know our hearts. Try us and know our thoughts. Reveal any grievous or wicked way in us, any hidden defilement of flesh or spirit, any thought, habit, or desire that does not honor You. We confess that we need Your cleansing and we claim Your promise that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Psalm 51:10. Perfect holiness in us in the fear of God, not by our strength but by Your Spirit, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13. Lead us in the everlasting way and bring our lives completely to the place You would have us to be in this moment in time, for Your glory. We ask this in the mighty and only name by which we have access to Your throne and by which we are saved, in Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk daily in this posture of surrender, letting His Word wash over you and letting His Spirit convict and comfort you. As He reveals what needs to be cleansed, be quick to confess and turn from it, trusting that He who began a good work in you will perfect it. He is faithful to lead you in the everlasting way as you continue to invite Him to search you.

We were grateful to read your prayer and to hear the hunger in it to be fully set apart for Him and led in His way.

What you prayed captures so much of what sanctification actually looks like day to day. It is both God's gracious work of setting us apart and a lifelong process where we walk with Him and learn to become more like Christ. That process is usually gradual and quiet, with highs and lows along the way, and what matters most is the steady direction over time, not instant perfection.

We love that you are inviting God Himself to do the searching and the cleansing. That dependence is essential, because real growth does not come from trying harder on our own, but from staying close to Him and letting His Spirit shape us.

One simple way to keep leaning into what you prayed is to keep that same honest invitation as a daily rhythm. A few unhurried minutes in the Word and in prayer, not to perform but to listen and respond, and sharing that journey regularly with other believers in worship and fellowship, gives God space to do the work you are asking for. He delights to meet you there.

Father, thank You for the sincere desire You have placed in this heart to walk in holiness before You. We ask You to keep searching, cleansing and leading according to Your mercy. Give strength to turn from what grieves You and grace to grow in what pleases You, step by step by Your Spirit. Lead in the way everlasting, we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer is one that the Lord delights to hear, for it asks for the very thing which His covenant promises to give. You have quoted two scriptures which belong together, for the one shows the duty and the other shows the means by which that duty is fulfilled.

Since we have these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. And Search me, O God, and know my heart, try me and know my thoughts, and see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. In these words you ask for practical holiness, not a mere notion or a name, but a cleansing that goes into the very caverns of the heart, that deals with thoughts and intents, purposes and motives, and makes the whole man to be set upon God.

This holiness we are to follow, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Yet remember that this holiness is not perfected here by our own power. All dreams about perfect sanctification in this life by our own doings are dreams indeed. There remains still an evil heart within, and the house of Saul is still within our coasts. If any could maintain at all times the same purity of heart and loveliness of disposition, we might learn of him, but we have all to confess our failures and to seek cleansing elsewhere.

Therefore I would have you look away from self to the fountain which God has opened. Cleansing cannot come from any other place, therefore seek it of the Lord who says, I will sprinkle clean water upon you and you shall be clean. From all your iniquities and from all your transgressions will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you. This is a covenant blessing, not procured by moralities or charities or resolutions, but applied by God Himself. Because we could not be cleansed by any other means, the water and the blood flowed freely from the pierced heart of Jesus, the Divine Son of God.

This work must be applied to us by the Holy Spirit. It is He who takes away from us all hope of being sanctified before God by any means of our own, and brings us to see our need of cleansing and reconciliation, and then takes of the things of Christ and reveals them to us. He does not only attempt the cleansing but He accomplishes it. Though your heart may seem a pandemonium of idols, the power of the Holy Spirit can break them all to pieces.

So I pray with you and for you, that the God of Peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, would make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ. May He answer your prayer, Search me, O God, by revealing what is grievous, and by washing it away in the precious blood, and by causing you to walk in His statutes. Take heart of hope, for God delights to accept a broken and contrite heart.

May you find both cleansings of which the Scripture speaks, first the cleansing from the guilt and uncleanness of sin through faith in the atoning sacrifice, and then the daily cleansing of the life as you are kept by His power, persevering in holiness and not departing from Him. The way to peace is the way of holiness, and He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join you in thanking God for these promises and we pray with you in the name of Jesus Christ.

God has called us to cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit and to bring holiness to completion in the fear of God. This holiness is not only outward but inward, for out of the heart come evil thoughts, and to be pure in heart is to be pure in every way. Blessed are the pure in heart. True righteousness and holiness are not merely a figure or an outward washing, but the reality of a new life created in Christ, in righteousness and holiness of truth.

We pray as you have prayed from Psalm 139, that God would search your heart and know your thoughts, and see if there is any grievous way in you and lead you in the way everlasting. May He reveal what needs to be confessed and cleansed, and may He give you grace to turn from all sin and to walk in purity, whether in singleness or in marriage, for marriage is honorable as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and it preserves the holiness that comes through faith in Christ.

We ask the Father to work His power in you according to His Word, to forgive you through the blood of Jesus, to sanctify you by His Spirit, and to establish your heart blameless before Him. May He grant you confidence and joy as you bear the fruit of holiness that leads to everlasting life, and may He keep you walking in the fear of God and in obedience to Christ until He brings your life completely to the place He desires. Amen.
