2 Corinthians 5:7

We join you in thanking God for this precious truth from 2 Cor 5:7, for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are encouraged that you have brought this verse before us, because it reminds us of how the Lord calls us to live each day.

To walk by faith is not to walk by our feelings or by what our eyes can see and understand, but to trust fully in the character and promises of God even when the path ahead is unclear. The writer of Hebrews tells us in Heb 11:1, Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen. And in Heb 11:6 we are reminded, Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Walking by faith means we trust Yahweh with all our heart and do not lean on our own understanding, as we are taught in Prov 3:5-6, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We notice your request shares this beautiful verse but does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can walk by faith and have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Scripture declares in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and that God raised Him from the dead, that we are saved and enabled to live a life of faith. As it says in Rom 10:9, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Faith itself comes as we hear and receive His Word, for Rom 10:17 tells us, So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You with thanksgiving for Your Word and for the faith You have given us. We ask that You would deepen our walk of faith and help us not to be moved by sight or circumstance, but to trust in Your promises which never fail. Strengthen our hearts when we cannot see the outcome, and remind us that You are with us and You are working for our good. Help us to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and to live in a way that pleases You. If anyone reading this has not yet put their trust in Jesus, we pray that today they would call upon His name and be saved. Lead us each day to walk by faith, to obey Your Word, and to rest in Your unfailing love. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to hide this verse in your heart and to meditate on the whole counsel of God, for His Word will build your faith and guide your steps. May the Lord give you peace as you trust Him with all that is unseen, knowing that He who promised is faithful.

Thank you for putting this verse before us. It is a steady reminder when the path ahead is not clear.

We understand how hard it can be to keep walking when what we see feels uncertain or discouraging. Faith in that sense is not pretending we have all the answers, but a quiet confidence in who Christ is and that He remains trustworthy even when our feelings or circumstances shift. We do not walk alone, and the small, faithful steps we take each day matter even when we cannot see far ahead.

If this verse is on your heart today, one simple next step that helps many is to pause and name what sight is saying right now and what you know to be true of God's character, then bring both honestly to Him in prayer. Even writing those two things down briefly can make the next step clearer. If it helps, share that reflection with a trusted pastor or friend who can pray with you and walk alongside you.

We are praying with you as you keep walking forward.

Father, thank You for being faithful and near even when we cannot see the whole way ahead. Give our friend steadiness for today, wisdom for the next step, and peace in trusting You. Lead and keep them in Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is a precious truth in the text you have laid before us, For we walk by faith, not by sight. It is not left to be a matter of conjecture to be worked out by a man's thoughts from within, but it is a matter of distinct revelation to be received by faith from above, and blessed are they who so receive it.

To walk by faith is not a fitful leap nor a momentary transport, but a practical working pace, a rate at which a man can continue on and on and make a day's journey by the time the sun is down. It is to be with God always, to be with Him in common things, to be with Him on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday as well as on the Sabbath. It is to lean upon the everlasting arm and to go forward confidently with God when sight can see no way.

You are reminded, and rightly, that the just shall live by faith. In the purest spiritual sense it is through faith that a man becomes just, for otherwise before the law of God he is convicted of being unjust. Being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Not by tears, nor prayers, nor humbling, nor working, nor Bible reading, nor church going, but by a simple and utter dependence upon the faithfulness of God and the blood of Jesus Christ poured out for sinners. Faith clings to the cross and knows that all is safe there.

And then, having begun by faith, we are to live by faith. Faith is operative in our daily life. Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he that has no faith is toward God as one dead. But he that trusts in the Son of God, who calls upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved, and shall find that God performs all things for him. When you are afraid, trust in God, and better still, trust in God beforehand so that you need not be afraid at all. Throw out the anchor of faith, and you shall ride out the storm.

May the Holy Spirit work this in you for the lowly Saviour's sake. May He give you to trust Jesus more simply, to look to Him and be lightened, to receive promises and feed your love upon the fruit of them, and to prove day by day that to walk humbly with God is both the test of salvation and the joy of it. May you be kept walking confidently with God, your life made happy and holy and glorious before the Lord, until faith shall be swallowed up in sight and you shall see Him face to face.

We pray for you that your faith may not stand in the wisdom of man but in the power of God, that you may be kept from wrapping yourself up and saying it is well with you while yet a stranger to Christ, and that you may know in your own experience what it is to be justified by faith and to have access into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. The Lord increase your faith and keep your feet in His way.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

This verse calls us to live with full assurance even when nothing is seen. To walk by faith is not to hold a small or elementary thing, but to hold the whole power of the Christian life. A perfect faith is shown not only in what we believe but in how we live, with a true heart and a right life that matches what we confess.

You remember Peter on the water. He began to walk toward Jesus, but when he saw the wind was strong he became afraid and began to sink, and the Lord said, wherefore did you doubt, O you of little faith. The wind did not cause his fall, his doubt did. When faith is steadfast, no assault can easily overthrow us, but when faith grows weak we sink even where we once stood firm.

At our baptism the heavens were opened to show us that God calls us to a heavenly country, and at the beginning God often gives visible signs to help those who need outward sight. But afterward we are called to believe without seeing, trusting not our senses but the Spirit, and holding with confidence what God has promised even though it is not yet visible. Here we may be deceived by what we see, but there we cannot be deceived when we trust God.

So do not doubt as one who is unsound in faith, adding other hopes or looking back. Rather draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, confident that God will keep what He has promised. If you believe that Christ became poor to make you rich, you will not doubt that He can sustain you through every unseen trial until you see Him face to face. May the Lord strengthen your faith to be firm and active, and keep your steps steady as you walk not by sight but by trust in Him.

Walking by faith when you cannot see the way ahead is at the heart of what it means to follow Christ, and the verse you shared points to the very way God wants us to live.

Scripture shows that faith is how those who went before us pleased God and received a good testimony from Him. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, because faith is trusting that He is real and that He rewards those who seek Him. Abel trusted God and offered what God required and was counted righteous. Enoch walked with God by faith and God took him. Noah believed God's warning about things he had not yet seen and in reverent obedience prepared the ark, and through that faith he and his household were saved. Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave his home for a land he had never seen, not knowing where he was going. Sarah trusted God's promise even when it seemed impossible by human reasoning, and God fulfilled His word.

In each case faith was marked by obedience. That is the pattern. True faith is not merely saying we believe, it shows itself in what we do. If faith is real it will work itself out in action, and those actions demonstrate that the faith is alive. At the same time, faith is not something we earn. Righteousness before God does not come by keeping the law or by our own efforts. It is a gift received by believing what God has said, especially concerning Jesus Christ. We are counted righteous because we trust in Him who was raised from the dead, and that righteousness comes by grace so that the promise is sure. You cannot earn a gift, you can only receive it by faith, and that includes the gift of the Holy Spirit who is given when we hear and believe the gospel, not when we try to merit Him by works.

God also said through the prophet that the just shall live by faith, and that truth runs through the whole Bible. The law is not of faith, it is of works, and it cannot make anyone righteous. Only faith in Christ can. This is why boasting is excluded. We have nothing to boast in except the grace of God who credits faith to us as righteousness.

Faith also grows as you come to know God better. The more you learn of His character and His faithfulness, the more you will trust Him in hard places. Even great men and women of faith had moments when their faith faltered, yet when God records their lives He highlights the victories of faith and covers the failures. He remembers the times you trusted and obeyed, and He is gracious toward your weakness.

If you are in a season where sight gives you little comfort, where circumstances look uncertain or even threatening, God invites you to rest in Him and take Him at His word. Trust Him step by step, even when you cannot see the whole path. Let that trust show itself in simple obedience to what you know He has already told you in Scripture. Pray, seek Him, obey what is clear, and leave the unseen future in His hands.

May the Lord strengthen your faith, give you assurance that you stand righteous before Him through faith in Jesus, and help you to walk in quiet confidence that He who promised is faithful and will do what He has said.
