Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Your prayer has been read with care and your love for this man comes through clearly in every line, along with your tears and your deep desire for his good.

The longings you express touch the deepest issues of life, the same needs that have weighed on people from the earliest days. One of the oldest books in the Bible tells the story of a man named Job, and though cultures and times have changed, the problems he faced are still our problems today, and the cries of his heart are still our cries. That is why his story continues to comfort those who feel pain they do not understand, distance from those they love, and questions they cannot answer.

Scripture gives a background to Job's suffering that he and his friends could not see. God had recognized Job as a faithful man, and an adversary who had been studying him closely claimed that Job only trusted God because God had placed a hedge of blessing around him. The adversary was allowed to strip away many of those blessings to test that claim. Job's friends then came to comfort him, but they offered poor comfort. They insisted that suffering must mean hidden sin and told him to simply get right with God and everything would be fixed. They were wrong. Job had not brought his troubles on himself by secret wickedness, and their counsel only added to his burden.

This helps us see two things for you and for him. First, physical affliction, job uncertainty, and mental heaviness are not proof that God has forsaken a person or that serious sin is the cause. Second, much of what Job said in his grief was an honest pouring out of pain, not settled doctrine about God or about life after death. When God finally spoke to Job, Job saw God more clearly and found humility and rest. The comfort for us is that God is at work even when it appears He is far away, and He remains fair and just even when we cannot trace His hand.

There is also the cry in that book for someone who could stand between God and man, laying a hand on both. That need is met in Jesus Christ alone. It is through His blood that we are sealed and covered, and through Him alone that a man or woman can be made right with God. You said you both have chosen Jesus, and that is the foundation for every other blessing. Continue to rest in that alone for salvation and for peace.

For him, I join you in praying that God will grant quietness of mind and calm to anxious thoughts. Scripture says when God gives quietness, no one can make trouble, and He promises a peace that goes beyond understanding to guard hearts and minds in Christ. Pray that God will renew his thoughts and give him new ideas as he reflects on God's goodness. Pray too for his body, for healing where there are concerns about veins and pain and health worries, asking God in His mercy to restore and strengthen him. Pray for provision of work that would allow him to help his mother honorably and to prepare for the future.

For his sense of worth, pray that he will see himself as God sees him. Man looks at outward appearance, whether hair, weight, or age, but God looks at the heart. He is fearfully and wonderfully made, and his value is not measured by those outward things. That twinkle in his eye, his smile, his heart when it hurts, these are known and loved by God who formed him.

For you both, pray that God will make your relationship pure and honoring to Him. Love that chooses and commits is beautiful when it moves toward the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, where living together and physical union belong. Your desire to be side by side in marriage is a good desire when it is pursued in God's way, with patience, purity, and encouragement. Ask God to help you be a true helper and encourager, to uplift and stand by him without being driven by anxious thoughts, so that what you offer each other flows freely from trust in Christ.

God invites us to bring our cause before Him, to become acquainted with Him and be at peace, trusting that good will come from His hand. He is not distant from your tears or from his quiet struggles across the distance. He hears, He cares, and He is able to bring healing, unconditional love, growth, and refreshing energy in His time and according to His will.

May the Lord keep you both in His care, guard your hearts from fear, heal what is hurting, provide what is needed, and lead you step by step in holiness and hope as you look to Jesus.
