The Awakening of 1858 in America

Preached at the Church on the Way in Van Nuys. This great revival was termed "the event of the century" and in Orr's opinion one of the most cooperative periods in American history where the denominations acted as "one man". It was spectacularly noted for extradordinary conversions and calls to service. What led to this great awakening was a laymen's movement among churches for united prayer for God's outpouring of the Spirit. Orr noted some interesting movements among the slaves and armies in the Civil War and the continued effects up until the death of Moody in 1899.
