Marriage

Dear Lord,

You care about the words we speak. You care because You created everything with a word. God, You have asked us to choose our words carefully and wisely. We pray that we would be more serious about the words we choose to speak toward each other and our kids. We pray that Your Spirit would renew the way we talk. We pray that we would breathe life into our family and friends every time we speak to them. We pray that we would speak the truth always in love. Help us to choose better...

 

Dear Lord,

You desire obedience rather than sacrifice. You have told us in Your word that if we love You then we will obey You. Lord, we desire to obey You, but sometimes we don’t know how to. Lord, bring us to Your word and show us the areas in our lives that we are in disobedience. Show us where You would like change to occur in us.

Not long ago, I received an email from a husband who was beyond weary of the Church not addressing the issue of his sexless marriage. That was hardly the first email I’d received from a frustrated spouse complaining about a lack of wisdom or even compassion they received from church leaders or fellow members for their sexual struggles.

Cue my heart breaking. Because...

You have told us that the greatest commandment is to love You with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength. You want us to love You with all of ourselves. You want us to love You with our words, our actions, or decisions, our obedience, our health, thoughts and our motives. Lord, help us to love You with all of ourselves.

We are all broken in some way. We have all been hurt by people inside the church and out. We have all felt the pain of rejection and loneliness. We have all been confused and lost. Bring us to people who will walk with us through these difficulties. This is what You desire of us, that we not do this alone. We know that our enemy would love for us to remain broken so that we will remain unfruitful. But You, Lord, bring healing.
