Confess and be free (2) Sunday 18th November 2018 'Whoever confesses and abandons [sins] receives compassion.' Proverbs 28:13 GWT Ever done any decorating? Maybe the wall plaster has a couple of cracks. Nothing too big, but they ruin the surface and don't look good. So you fill them in and paint over them. It all looks fine, but you know there are problems below the surface. Eventually, a quick fix just isn't enough and you have to completely re-plaster the wall and start afresh. It can be like that with hidden sin. We might feel ashamed of the things we've done wrong, or think that nobody else can have done anything as bad. So we cover over our sins to appear to be the righteous, perfect people we wish we were. But it's only a...
One thing that has puzzled me, and now enough to post a blog asking about it, is, we've all "been through" things we would love to get out of, have thought we were over our heads, prayed about it, yet the problem remained and even got worse!! Even Paul said, "It was granted me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, and 3 times I entreated the Lord to take it away, BUT HE SAID, my grace is sufficient." How many legit Christians have been in prayer groups and been prayed over by many, but the problem remains? Now here's the rub--introducing Cain, a man who was a murderer. Furthermore, he murdered his own brother. He was jealous, which was a work of the flesh. He murdered a righteous man. Serious sins, right? Now when God sent Cain...
"God gave us the Ten Commandments to lead all mankind in the quest for Understanding, Hope, Love, and Peace, to walk Free of all bondage with a righteous loving God. They embody the heart of all good law. Each commandment has its own reason and rationale, and is designed to protect rights -- The right of God to be reverenced for what He is, The Creator; The right of Him to be mentioned only in a holy way; The right of parents to be respected; The right to life; The right to property; and The right to the truth." Joy, pure joy and peace does not happen to us because we are nice and helpful. It comes to us because Jesus wants us to have the purest joy and happiness in this life and then in the next one. We have to choose to have joy in our hearts. Ask and ye shall receive. Ask Jesus to give it to you and you certainly will receive. Life is good to those who serve the Lord The joy of the Lord shall be your strength. Still your mind before the Lord and He shall reveal to you wonderful things. Change your focus on getting more money, more material possessions. Start seeking the Lord with all of your heart. Surrender your worries and your fears to the Lord. He will take everything negative from your life. Be grateful to God for every...
Confess and be free (1) Saturday 17th November 2018 'Everything that is hidden will be shown, and everything that is secret will be made known.' Luke 12:2 NCV We often feel under pressure to be perfect Christians. We may feel that people are waiting for us to make a mistake so they can point out we're no better than them. And we're not. We all make mistakes. We all have things we're not proud of or would prefer to hide. So we put on a public face that makes us look good and disguises our flaws and mistakes. But Jesus said: 'Everything that is hidden will be shown, and everything that is secret will be made known' (Luke 12:2 NCV). God knows the things we do wrong and the unhealthy attitudes we have. But more important to him is the...
God is moving, God is coming to us. Let us all welcome Him with songs of praise, songs of adoration and worship. He alone is worthy of all glory and honor. Jesus is our Savior and Lord. He alone is worthy of all praise. Jesus is my healer. He healed me from cancer. He is full of mercy and compassion on those who love Him with all their heart, mind and soul. Jesus is my heavenly Father who loves me with an everlasting love. He has chosen us to be His very own. All glory and honor to Him now and forever more. Jesus is my Master and my Lord. I shall hear Him speak down deep in my soul. I shall follow Him all the way to heaven. Jesus is my Teacher and my guide. He shall teach us all things, even the hidden things that are not...
Our perfect Father Friday 16th November 2018 'Bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.' Ephesians 6:4 NLT 'Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord' (Ephesians 6:4 NLT). For those of us who aren't parents, we might think this verse doesn't apply to us. But when we look deeper, it's teaching us a lot about God's character, as our Father. In Greek, the word for 'discipline' is paideia. Other ways to translate paideia are training, instruction, correction and nurture - just about everything needed to bring up a child, and everything we'll experience from God when we choose to let him be...
