Imagine selecting your favourite song on one of your CDs but when you go to play it, you hear a horrendous hissing noise. There was a gentleman with such sensitive hearing that he was employed in the CD quality control department. I'm not sure exactly what his position was called but he would spend most of his working time listening to defects on CDs - white and hissing noises. After a while, he had become so proficient at his trade that he inadvertently and subconsciously brought his talent home to his CD collection.
