Bible Verse for Today

Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it...

—Deuteronomy 11:8 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

God's desire that we obey his will is not arbitrary, impulsive, or demanding. Our Father wants us to reflect his character, rest his blessings, and receive his strength so he can restore our freedom. Let's not look at obedience merely as something we must do, but as...

For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

—Psalm 11:7 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Can you think of any greater promise for those who seek to be righteous and just? We will see God face to face! Incredible. What a blessing! What a future! What an incredible Father! So let's seek our Abba Father, the LORD God, with all heart and soul and mind and strength until that day that we get to see him as he is, face-to-face with God in...

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

—Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

And just why do we serve God? ... Fear? ... Sense of obligation? ... Because our parents did? How about because we want to please God and bring the Father joy? How about because we believe in what God has done and will do for us? We believe that God sent his Son Jesus to...

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

—Matthew 11:5 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

The clear sign of the Messiah's presence was a time of true blessedness for all who know and follow him. Just think how glorious it will be and all the blessings we will share when he comes again!

My Prayer...

Lord God Almighty, I praise you for the time of...

Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

—Proverbs 11:4 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

What is your primary investment? Only righteousness offers a truly long-term benefit!

My Prayer...

Holy God, thank you for valuing what is good, holy, and righteous. I praise you for empowering me to develop those qualities in my character. In Jesus' name. Amen.

All scripture quotations, unless otherwise indicated, are taken from the HOLY...

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

—Luke 11:2-4 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

We approach God as both the holy and almighty God who is to be worshiped in reverence and also as...

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

—Hebrews 11:3 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Where did it all come from? Where did matter, energy, and time come from? How did our universe come to possess order and structure, when all we know about our existence moves to decay, disorder, and death? By faith, we know it came from the articulated design of our Heavenly Father...

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

—Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

"I believe, but help my unbelief!" That's what the father of the boy with convulsions said to Jesus (Mark 9:24). This must sometimes be our prayer, too. As we look at the great heroes of faith in Hebrews 11, we know this must have been their prayer as well. Their faith wasn't always perfect. Their trust wasn't always mature. But, they stayed at it...

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

—1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

As humans, we are often quick to quibble over things we feel are important to us when others don't share our enthusiasm — especially food, holidays, and special events. This problem is often more a sign of insecurity than it is a mark of sincerity. We are to do what we do based on our commitment to honor the Lord, not because others do it...

The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

—Proverbs 10:30 (KJV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

This promise is even truer for those of us who live on this side of Calvary and the empty tomb! As Paul said it, "our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his...
