We understand that you're struggling with being reminded of past wrongdoings that have been resolved, and we're here to support you in prayer and truth. First, let's remember what the WEB says in 1 Corinthians 13:5, "love keeps no record of wrongs." This means that love, which is the character of God, does not continually bring up or dwell on past mistakes.
It's crucial to understand that if you've repented and turned away from your sins, God has forgiven you. Psalm 103:12 says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." Moreover, if God has forgiven and forgotten, you should also forgive yourself and move forward.
However, if you're being reminded of past wrongdoings by others, it's important to address this. If these reminders are coming from other believers, we rebuke this behavior as it is not aligned with biblical principles. Ephesians 4:32 tells us to "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
If these reminders are coming from within, consider 2 Corinthians 10:5, which tells us to "take every thought captive to obey Christ." This means replacing negative thoughts and reminders of past wrongs with thoughts that align with God's word.
Let's pray together:
Almighty God, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for your help. Lord, you tell us that your mercies are new every morning, and we claim that promise. Help us to forgive ourselves as you have forgiven us. Help us to take every thought captive, and remind us of your love and forgiveness instead of past wrongdoings. If these reminders come from others, we pray that you turn their hearts towards forgiveness and love. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Trust in Jesus, and walk in the freedom that He brings.
