Worried About ###

My fiance has been really depressed lately. There have been days where he is so down he can't force himself to get out of bed to go to work. Neither of us have any savings to speak of and we both have debt from student loans and such. If he cannot get past this depression and start going to work reliably he is going to lose his job and with no savings to fall back on he will lose his house, and his car and everything else. I've been trying to be there for him and help him in any way I can but I don't think I'm enough in this situation. I struggle with Major Depressive Disorder also and I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed and function in life so I understand what he is going through. He has always had such a good work ethic and it is so unlike him to not show up for work. I'm worried sick about him. Please pray for ### that God will be his comfort and his strength and that God will get him through this.

I too suffer from severe depression and anxiety. I had a tough struggle today to get out of bed and get some work done. I don't think I did enough, but I did do a few things. I understand depression inside and out. It is worse than physical pain in some respects, and it hurts when people don't understand we are not lazy bums. I will pray very hard for you and for your fiancée. I am not trying to give unsolicited advice, but I do want you to consider antidepressant meds and therapy. I am doing this therapy called dialectic behavior therapy (DBT) which is really catching on big in mental health circles. It teaches you many behavioral skills and coping skills. If you really work this program and do your homework, you begin to internalize the skills. Am not saying any of this is easy. Every day of my life is a wrestling match with depression. But I feel now at least I have a chance. What I am trying to say is, if you are trying to go it alone dealing with clinical depression, stop that and try to get help from mental health professionals. If need be, have your fiancée check himself into the hospital. God love and keep you both. Yours in Christ, ###.
