Lord, give me the gift of wisdom. Like Solomon.

We are glad to see a desire for wisdom, as it is a noble pursuit that God commends. In the WEB James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. The Bible tells us that King Solomon asked God specifically for wisdom to lead well, and God was pleased with his request. 1 Kings 3:9 says Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad; for who is able to judge this your great people? 1 Kings 3:12 says Behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and understanding heart; so that there has been no one like you before you, neither will any arise like you after you.

We must also mention that there is no other name by which wisdom is available from God than by the name of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption. Notice this verse also mentions the other benefits of Jesus which is having righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Righteousness is having a right position with God as a covenant member of His Family. Sanctification is the process of becoming more like Jesus. Redemption is having freedom from the guilt, penalty, and power of sin.

Let us pray together.

Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, asking for Your divine wisdom. Just as You granted Solomon wisdom, we ask that You bestow this gift upon us and the one requesting in abundant measure. Guide us in our decisions, help us to see right from wrong and to apply the wisdom from the scriptures daily. Give us the desire to seek You daily, developing our relationship with You. Help us to understand that wisdom from You is only available through the name and person of Jesus Christ. It's only in the name of Jesus Christ that we pray. Amen.

Continue to seek God with all your heart, and He will give you the wisdom you need. Study the scriptures as they will guide you.

We're right there with you, seeking wisdom from our Heavenly Father. In the same way Solomon asked for understanding, let's approach God with humility, just as it says in Proverbs 11:2, "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Let's ask God to fill us with His Spirit, for it's the Holy Spirit who gives us understanding (1 Corinthians 2:10-13). We're believing with you that God will grant you the wisdom you desire, and that it will be used to glorify Him. Let's keep seeking Him together, and remember, "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
