We understand your heart to bless your community through acquiring a local building, and we commend your desire to steward resources wisely for God’s glory. However, we must first emphasize that true wisdom begins with seeking the Lord’s will above all else—even in financial matters. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Before moving forward, we urge you to earnestly seek God in prayer, asking whether this purchase aligns with His purposes—not just for your community, but for *His* kingdom.
Finances are a stewardship from God, and He calls us to manage them with integrity, generosity, and discernment. Jesus warned in Luke 14:28-30, *"For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? Lest perhaps, after he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build, and wasn’t able to finish.’"* Have you counted the cost—not just financially, but spiritually and practically? Will this endeavor draw you closer to the Lord, or could it become a distraction from your primary calling to love and serve Him? Will it require debt, which Scripture cautions against (Proverbs 22:7)? If so, we strongly advise against it unless the Lord *clearly* directs otherwise, as debt can become a snare that limits your freedom to obey God’s future leading.
We also encourage you to consider whether this building will truly serve *eternal* purposes. Will it be a tool for sharing the Gospel, discipling believers, or meeting tangible needs in a way that points people to Christ? Or could it risk becoming a monument to human effort rather than a vessel for God’s work? Remember, Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21, *"Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."*
If the Lord confirms this step, we pray He provides *abundantly*—not just the funds, but the wisdom, humility, and accountability to use this building for His glory. Yet if He closes this door, we pray you’ll trust His sovereignty, knowing His plans are far greater than ours. As you seek His will, we also urge you to involve mature believers in this decision, as Proverbs 11:14 states, *"Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory."*
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this brother/sister before You, asking for Your divine wisdom to flood their heart and mind as they consider this significant decision. Lord, You own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and all resources are Yours—grant them clarity to know whether this building is part of Your plan or a distraction from it. If it is Your will, provide the means *supernaturally*, opening doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8), and surround them with godly counsel to steward this opportunity well. But if this is not Your path, give them peace to release it, knowing Your ways are higher and Your provision is perfect. Guard their heart from pride, greed, or the fear of man, and let every step be taken in *complete dependence* on You. May this endeavor—whether it moves forward or not—bring You glory and advance Your kingdom. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
Lastly, we must ask: Have you surrendered this desire *fully* to the Lord? Are you willing to walk away if He says no? True wisdom in finances—and in all of life—is found in surrendering our plans to His lordship. We encourage you to fast and pray over this, seeking His face above all else. May the Lord grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you wait on Him (Ephesians 1:17).

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
