We join with you in lifting up this urgent need before the Lord, knowing that He alone commands the winds and the waves. The Scriptures remind us of His sovereign power over creation, as we read in Psalm 107:29: *"He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still."* And in Mark 4:39, we see Jesus Himself rebuking the wind, saying, *"Peace! Be still!"* and there was a great calm. What a mighty God we serve, who hears our cries and acts on behalf of His people!
Yet we also recognize that storms, though fearful, often serve His purposes—whether to draw hearts to Him, to refine our faith, or to display His glory. Even in the midst of the tempest, He is our refuge, as Psalm 46:1-3 declares: *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."* Let us trust in His perfect will, whether He calms the storm or carries us through it.
We pray now for the winds to cease their howling and for the rains to abate, that flooding may recede and lives be spared. Father, we ask for Your divine protection over every person in the path of this storm—shield the vulnerable, guide the first responders, and provide wisdom to those making critical decisions. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts and minds of those who are afraid. Comfort the displaced, strengthen the weary, and move Your people to act with compassion and generosity toward those in need.
For those who do not yet know You, Lord, we pray this storm would be a wake-up call—a moment where they turn to You in repentance and faith, recognizing their need for a Savior. May Your church rise up in this time, shining as lights in the darkness, offering both practical help and the hope of the Gospel.
We also lift up the land itself, asking that the damage would be minimal and that restoration would come swiftly. Provide for farmers, homeowners, and communities as they assess and recover from the destruction. Let this trial be an opportunity for unity, for kindness, and for testimonies of Your faithfulness to be shared far and wide.
Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, the Name above all names, the only Name by which we are saved. It is through Him alone that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is in His authority that we boldly ask for mercy and intervention. May Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, and may Your kingdom come even in the midst of this storm.
We wait upon You, Lord, trusting that You are good and that Your love endures forever. Strengthen our faith as we see Your hand at work, and may we give You all the glory, now and forevermore. Amen.
