Why does God love us?

Q: Why does God love us? I know that God is a God of love, but why does He love us sinners?

A: God loves us because He is love. I know of no better way to describe it.

God doesn't love us because we deserve or have somehow earned His love, He loves us because in His love He has forgiven our sins and adopted us as His children. God loves us not because of who or what we are, He loves us despite of who or what we are.

Yes, we are sinners, but God loves us so much that He sees past our sins, past our failings, and only sees a human being, who needs love. Everybody needs love. God loves each and every one of us, no matter what we have done, no matter how many times we have turned our backs on Him, no matter how many times we have turned from God and gone our own way, God is always there, waiting and willing to show us His love. All we have to do is receive it. God's love knows no limits, no bounds.

God sent His only Son to earth to die on a cross for our sins, so that we, through His sacrifice, might live again in heaven. If that isn't proof of His love, I don't know what is.

Lord, we thank you for your compassion for loving us so much that you gave your only begotten Son. Amen! Thank you Lord!
