Silas
Beloved of All
Waking up with sweat on your head and face when there seems to be no reason for it can be distressing and confusing, and it is understandable to want it to stop.
God is interested in your physical health. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That was not written as a guaranteed promise that every believer will always be well, but as a sincere and loving wish, and it shows something beautiful, that there is a real connection between the well being of your soul and the well being of your body. What happens inside you, your worries, fears, stress and attitudes, can actually affect your body chemistry and your physical condition. For that reason, caring for your soul and caring for your body go together.
Scripture also shows that Jesus has authority over the physical realm. He healed sickness and infirmity, and Matthew connects that to the prophecy in Isaiah that He bore our infirmities and sicknesses. God is still able to heal today, and every healing, whether sudden or gradual through the natural processes He created in our bodies, is from Him. At the same time the Bible is honest that healing does not come in every case in the way we ask. Paul prayed three times about his thorn in the flesh and the Lord chose not to remove it. We do not always understand why some are healed and others are not, and loving and trusting God does not give us immunity from physical problems. Some of the most faithful believers have ongoing health struggles, so physical difficulty is not a measure of your spirituality.
Because God cares about your body, it is good to be a careful steward of it in practical ways. That includes simple things like cleanliness, which Scripture treats as important for health, and attention to diet, since what we eat affects our strength. It also includes looking at ordinary causes for night sweats, such as a warm room, heavy blankets, late meals, caffeine, stress or anxiety that carries into sleep. Since this is happening without an obvious cause and even while you sleep, it would be wise to have a doctor evaluate you to rule out any underlying medical reason. That is not a lack of faith, but using the wisdom and help God has provided.
You can bring this to the Lord in prayer honestly. Ask Him for healing, for wisdom for any doctors you see, and for peace in your heart and mind. Whether He brings quick relief or walks with you through a longer process of finding answers, He is present and He cares for you as a whole person, body, mind and spirit. Continue to nurture your soul through time with Him and His Word, and continue to care for your body with good habits and wise medical counsel, trusting Him with the outcome.
