Whole and Holy (Jul 30th)

Verse
So, my dear friends, don't take my rather bold and blunt language as criticism. It's not criticism. I'm simply underlining how very much I need your help in carrying out this highly focused assignment God gave me, this priestly and gospel work of serving the spiritual needs of the non-Jewish outsiders so they can be presented as an acceptable offering to God, made whole and holy by God's Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:15-16 msg

Thought
Yesterday we talked about the sanctifying work of the Spirit in terms of making us clean, making us new, and making us valuable and precious to God. Paul describes it as making us "whole and holy" in today's verse. What is lacking in your life? What keeps you from feeling and being whole? What is lacking in your holiness? How have you stumbled and not kept yourself pure and precious for God? Today, let's take time to confess our missing pieces and our failures, and ask God's Spirit to make us whole and holy — to heal, mend, forgive, cleanse, and make precious who we are!

Prayer
O Father God, thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for your forgiveness and cleansing. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who is both your presence within me and your power to heal, mend, forgive, cleanse, and make me precious. Jesus demonstrated this work in the lives of those he touched in his earthly ministry and now I ask that you do that in my life through the ministry of the Holy Spirit within me, to your glory. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

"Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." —John 6:37 Evening Thought No limit is set to the duration of this promise. It does not merely say, "I will not cast out a sinner at his first coming," but, "I will in no wise cast out." The original reads, "I will not, not cast out," or "I...

"And when he thought thereon, he wept." —Mark 14:72 Morning Thought It has been thought by some that as long as Peter lived, the fountain of his tears began to flow whenever he remembered his denying his Lord. It is not unlikely that it was so, (for his sin was very great, and grace in him...
