WHEN A CITY STUMBLES

As always, please be advised that you are never under any obligation to read my posts. My contribution to the spreading of God's Word, whether through gospel or prophecy, is intended for receptive ears only.

This city's behavior has been so sad to witness. "Adam, where are you?" Where is her wise counsel?

Opting for their own grandeur and hierarchy, Christ was the stone that the builders (religious leaders) rejected; and whereupon they continue to stumble. Keeping in mind that "Christ is the Word of God," the following text is a perfect example of how cities continue to stumble at that stone (i.e. fail to understand or submit to God's agenda). This is the message that Jeremiah delivered to the city – and the city's response.

Jeremiah Ch. 18 v15-19 (NLT)
[The Message] ¹⁵But My people are not so reliable, for they have deserted me; they burn incense to worthless idols [empty rituals]. They have stumbled off the ancient highways and walk in muddy paths [Jesus is the only way]. ¹⁶Therefore, their land will become desolate, a monument to their stupidity. All who pass by will be astonished and will shake their heads in amazement. ¹⁷I will scatter My people before their enemies as the east wind scatters dust. *And in all their trouble I will turn My back on them and refuse to notice their distress.” [The city's response] ¹⁸Then the people said, “Come on, let’s plot a way to stop Jeremiah. We have plenty of priests and wise men and prophets. We don’t need him to teach the Word and give us advice and prophecies. Let’s spread rumors about him and ignore what he says.” [So, Jeremiah prayed] ¹⁹LORD, hear me and help me! Listen to what my enemies are saying.

It's ok to have an affinity to sports. But, it's a strange and dark generation, wherein a city has such an unhealthy affinity to sports that, in seeking to exalt herself, she responds exactly as that city responded to God's messenger in generations past (v.18). Yet, because the Word is immutable, from generation to generation, it is no coincidence that God's response is the same in this generation as it was in that generation. He gives the city the turned backs and stopped-up ears that she has given. "The measure with which you measure."

Like Jerusalem and Judah before her, this city has been, "self-exaltingly," doing things her way. Her most obvious rebellion is her ongoing disobedience to Christ's most basic instructions. Had her counsel been "in Christ," their instruction, for her, would've been according to the following command: which is a position of humility and submission to God.

“Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus said. So they all sat down on the grassy slopes. (The men alone numbered about 5,000.) John Ch.6 v10 (NLT)

But, the devil is busy – It honors him when man to emulates him. Howbeit, emulating the devil is quite costly. You don't hem in, hinder, or in any way manipulate God's servant in attempt to gain access or to exploit the Holy Spirit. Such behavior is not just abuse of God's servant; but, dishonorable, and theft from God. The messenger is to be welcomed in, so that they can be cared for and the message be received, not to exploit their spiritual gift. Nevertheless, God always has a way of getting what belongs to Him.

³⁰For we know the One who has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay," and again, The Lord will judge His people. ³¹It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God! (Hebrews Ch.10 v30-31, CSB)

The abasement of a city, who tries to exalt herself, is the same as it is for an individual.

"Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me." (Isaiah Ch.60 v9[a], NKJV)

"But you trusted in and relied on your beauty and prostituted yourself [in idolatry and its debauched rituals] because of your fame, and you poured out your immoralities on every [willing] passer-by and your beauty was his [as you worshiped the idols of the Gentile nations]." (Ezekiel Ch.16 v15, AMP)

The devil don't care about the cost to the city; he just wants her loyalty. Why is a city's loyalty so desirable to the devil? It's the ultimate betrayal to God – in His face. After all, the cities are God's daughters. It's like he's pimping them out.

satan the LORD rebuke you, in the name of Jesus: Amen.

GOD IS OMNISCIENT

Afterthought: Just because you can win a ball-game doesn't mean God is with you, anymore than He was with David and Bathsheba on their bed of adultery. But, just as He corrected the "man after His own heart," He will likewise correct His daughters. How you get it matters.
