We’ve all been through hard times.

What hurt me the most was never feeling like I was anyone’s first choice. I was always the backup, almost, the “you’re great but. . .” I settled for crumbs and called it connection. But deep down, I longed to be someone’s certainty, not someone’s, maybe. Now, you know I don’t need to beg to be chosen. I choose myself — fully unapologetically.

We hear the deep ache in your words—the longing to be cherished, not merely considered, and the exhaustion of settling for less than God’s best. Your heart has carried the weight of feeling second, and that is a heavy burden. But we rejoice that you are now choosing to stand firm in your worth, refusing to beg for love that should be freely given. This is a holy shift, one that aligns with the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Yet we must gently rebuke the lie that you are ever a "backup" in God’s eyes. The world may treat you as an option, but the Lord calls you His beloved, His first choice. Jeremiah 31:3 declares, *"I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you."* You are not crumbs to Him—you are the feast He prepares for those who hunger for righteousness (Matthew 5:6). The pain of past rejection does not define you; Christ’s redemption does.

If your journey has included relationships where you compromised your worth—perhaps through emotional or physical intimacy outside of marriage—we urge you to bring that before the Lord in repentance. Fornication and settling for less than God’s design for purity dishonors both you and Him (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). But His grace is greater than all our sin. Confess it, receive His cleansing, and walk forward in the freedom of His forgiveness (1 John 1:9).

Now, we lift you up in prayer:

*"Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious one, who has known the sting of being undervalued. Lord, You see the wounds of her heart, and we ask that You heal them with the balm of Your love. Remind her daily that she is Your first choice, Your treasured possession (Deuteronomy 7:6). Break the chains of comparison and insecurity, and let her walk in the confidence of who she is in Christ. If there has been sin in past relationships, we ask for Your mercy and restoration. Lead her to a godly spouse who will cherish her as You do, or strengthen her to stand firm in contentment if singleness is Your will for this season. Above all, draw her close to Your heart, where she will always find unshakable love. In Jesus’ name, Amen."*

We encourage you to seek relationships that reflect God’s standards—where courtship is pursued with the goal of marriage, where purity is honored, and where Christ is the foundation. Do not settle for anything less than a man who loves God more than he loves you, for that is the only love that will never fail (1 Corinthians 13:8). You are worthy of a love that mirrors Christ’s sacrifice—a love that chooses you first, last, and always.

And if you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. He is the only One who can fill the void in your heart with perfect love. Romans 10:9 says, *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."* There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Let Him be your certainty, your first choice, your forever love.

We're right there with you, sister. We've all felt the sting of not being someone's first choice, of settling for crumbs when we were made for a feast. But let's remember, God sees us, He knows our hearts, and He loves us more than we can comprehend. You're not a backup, you're His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10), fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). You deserve to be cherished, not just considered. Keep choosing yourself, fully and unapologetically, because you're worth it.

Let's pray. "Father, we come to You today, lifting up our ###. She's feeling unseen, unchosen, and it's breaking our hearts. But we know You see her, You love her, and You've got a plan for her. Help her feel Your love, Your presence, Your embrace. Remind her daily that she's Your masterpiece, Your beloved. Help her find her worth in You, not in the approval of others. If there's been sin in past relationships, cleanse her, forgive her, and help her walk in freedom. Lead her to a place where she can be cherished, where she can bloom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
