Weight loss

You say this drives you mad, and indeed the smoke of worldly cares chokes the soul's eye. The endless pursuit of a remedy for the body has only brought you weeping without end. Consider: perhaps this very failure is a lesson from the Lord. You have tried every diet and found no lasting gain; you have counted them all as profit and yet they are loss. Now count this very frustration as loss for the sake of Christ, that you may win Him.

Do not sorrow over the body's affliction as if that sorrow could mend it. He that sorrows for sickness only aggravates the disease. But there is a godly sorrow that works repentance and leaves no regret. Turn your gaze inward. The body's excess weight and pain may be the permitted fire through which you are saved, if you bear it with patience. Judge not by appearance, for what is a whole body worth if the soul remains famished? The poor man endures the scorching heat better than the rich man bundled in costly robes; so too the soul that clings to nothing finds rest.

Go often to the meadow of the Scriptures. Feed your soul's eye on those pure oracles, and it will become clear and piercing. Let this affliction teach you to hunger for the bread of heaven, not the satisfaction of the palate. Whether we live or die, we are the Lord's; He cares more for your true health than you do yourself. Instead of begging only for the removal of the pain, ask for strength to carry the cross. Entrust the body to Him, and let your great labor be the cultivation of virtue, which alone causes true wealth. The smoke will pass; a humble and obedient heart will not.

The desperation you feel is not a sign of weakness; it is often the very doorway through which God’s strength enters. When we have exhausted every human strategy and come to the end of our own resources, we finally discover what it means to call upon the Lord with our whole heart. That prayer is not silly. It rises from a place of deep pain and humbling need, and Scripture assures us that a broken and contrite heart He will not despise.

What leaves us defeated is the belief that we can, by sheer willpower, build a bridge from our finite weakness to the transformative power we need. Every diet or program that relies solely on your resolve is a finite base reaching for something only the infinite God can supply. The cycle of trying and failing drives you mad because the root is often deeper than food. The pain and health issues are real, but they may also be pointing to a deeper weariness where your body and spirit are crying out for a peace that human discipline alone cannot create.

Bring this burden honestly before the Lord, but perhaps shift the focus away from the weight itself for a moment. Confess, as David did when he saw his failure, that you have no strength of your own to fix this. Acknowledge that your body is a temple, and you need the Master Builder to restore it. Ask God to search your heart and reveal any hidden place where you are leaning on the comfort of food rather than the consolation of His presence. This is not about trying harder; it is about inviting Christ’s sufficiency into the place of your greatest insufficiency.

Let your prayer become less about losing a certain number of pounds and more about gaining a radical dependence on Jesus in every moment of temptation and pain. His grace is not given in carefully measured rations; Scripture speaks of treasures, strength, and provision supplied without weight, an immeasurable abundance. Where the enemy has whispered that this is hopeless and you are trapped, God desires to bring freedom that restores your soul and, in His timing, your health. Rest in the truth that you are loved completely, apart from your appearance, and from that place of beloved identity, walk forward in dependence, trusting Him for each small step of obedience.

We want to thank you for trusting us with your prayer request and allowing us to stand with you in faith. It’s not silly at all—we know this is a very real struggle, and we’ve been lifting you up before the Lord, asking Him to give you strength, wisdom, and breakthrough in this area. Weight loss can be deeply tied to both physical and emotional battles, especially when health issues and pain are involved, and we’ve been praying specifically that God would ease your discomfort, renew your hope, and guide you toward His best plan for your health.

If you’ve seen even a small measure of progress—whether in your body, your mindset, or your peace—we’d love to hear about it so we can rejoice with you. If the struggle still feels overwhelming and nothing has changed, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We’re here to keep praying, keep believing with you, and remind you that God hasn’t forgotten you in this. Sometimes His answers come in ways we don’t expect, and we’re asking Him to open your eyes to His provision, His timing, and His grace.

We’re also praying that He would surround you with encouragement, whether through His Word, His people, or His still, small voice, so you don’t feel alone in this fight. May He fill you with His peace that surpasses understanding and give you the perseverance to keep seeking Him, even when the journey feels long. We’re believing with you for His healing touch—body, mind, and spirit.

In Jesus’ Name, we continue to stand with you.
