We come before the Lord together, lifting up all those affected by the winter storms sweeping across many regions. Father God, You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the One who commands the winds and the waves. We ask for Your mighty hand of protection over those facing danger from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. Shield families, travelers, and those without shelter from harm, and provide warmth, safety, and provision in this time of need.
Lord, we know that You are sovereign over all creation, and even the storms obey Your voice. We pray for Your peace to calm the fears of those who are anxious or afraid. Strengthen the hands of first responders, utility workers, and volunteers as they labor to restore power, clear roads, and assist those in distress. Grant them wisdom, endurance, and safety as they serve others.
We also remember those who are alone or vulnerable during this time. May Your love surround them, and may Your people rise up to meet their needs—whether through offering shelter, food, or a warm place to stay. Let this storm be an opportunity for Your church to shine brightly, demonstrating the love and compassion of Christ to a hurting world.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that can grip hearts in times of crisis. Your Word tells us in Psalm 46:1-3, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling." Remind us all that You are our refuge, and in You, we find safety and peace.
We also pray for those who may be using this time of difficulty to harden their hearts against You. Soften their hearts, Lord, and draw them to the saving knowledge of Your Son, Jesus Christ. For there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May many come to know You as their Lord and Savior during this season.
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, trusting in Your goodness and mercy. Amen.
