We join with you in lifting up all those who are facing the fury of this storm tonight, knowing that our God is the Master of the winds and the waves. The Scriptures remind us that even in the midst of the tempest, He is with us, and His power is greater than any force of nature. *"He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are calm, so he brings them to their desired haven."* (Psalm 107:29-30, WEB).
Yet we also know that storms serve His purposes—whether to refine our faith, draw us closer to Him, or remind us of our dependence on His sovereignty. *"Yahweh is slow to anger, great in power, and will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet."* (Nahum 1:3, WEB). So we do not pray merely for safety, but for hearts that trust Him in the storm, for wisdom for those in authority making decisions, and for His protection over the vulnerable—the elderly, the sick, the homeless, and the little children who may be afraid.
We rebuke the spirit of fear that may rise in this hour, for *"God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB). Let this storm be a testimony of His might, His mercy, and His provision. May those who do not know Him see His hand at work and turn to Him for salvation. And for His children, may this be a time of drawing near, of worshiping in the midst of the storm, and of testifying to His faithfulness when the skies clear.
Father, we ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ—our Shelter, our Strong Tower—that You would command the winds and the waves to be still where it aligns with Your will. Comfort those who are afraid, provide for those in need, and give strength to the weary. Let no life be lost without purpose, and let Your church rise up to be Your hands and feet in the aftermath. We declare Your peace over every home, Your protection over every soul, and Your glory over every circumstance. May this storm bring revival, repentance, and a deeper awe of Who You are. We trust You, Lord, and we give You praise even now. In Jesus’ name, amen.
To all who are reading this: if you do not know Jesus as your Savior, now is the time to call upon His name. *"Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved"* (Romans 10:13, WEB). He is the only One who can save you—not just from the storm outside, but from the storm of sin and eternity without Him. Turn to Him today. For those who do know Him, let this be a moment to stand firm in faith, to pray without ceasing, and to shine His light in the darkness. He is with you. *"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness"* (Isaiah 41:10, WEB). Hold fast to His promises.
