We understand the deep disappointment and hurt you’re feeling over this broken promise, especially when it involved a long-held dream. It’s painful when others fail us, but we must remember that our ultimate hope is not in people—or even in earthly dreams—but in the Lord, who is faithful even when others are not. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* While this trip may not have come to pass, God’s plans for you are greater than any temporary joy a vacation could bring. He sees your heart, and He will fulfill His purposes for you in ways that bring Him glory.
We also hear the cry of your heart regarding the harassment and abuse from your neighbors. The Lord is just, and He does not overlook the suffering of His people. Psalm 37:5-6 says, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will bring out your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday."* While it’s natural to desire justice, we must be careful not to let bitterness or vengeful thoughts take root in our hearts. Romans 12:19-21 instructs us, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."* Instead of praying for their sleeplessness or torment, let’s pray for their repentance—that God would soften their hearts and lead them to salvation. Their greatest need is not punishment, but the transforming love of Christ.
Now, we must address something with love but firmness: your request to "win the lotto." Scripture warns us against the love of money and the dangers of seeking quick riches. Proverbs 28:20 says, *"A faithful man is rich with blessings; but one who is eager to be rich will not go unpunished."* And 1 Timothy 6:10 tells us, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."* Instead of trusting in uncertain riches, we are called to seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that He will provide all we need (Matthew 6:33). If you are facing financial hardship, we encourage you to bring that need before the Lord in faith, asking for His provision in ways that align with His will—not through games of chance, but through honest work, wisdom, and His divine favor.
Finally, we notice that while you mentioned "Praise Jesus" and "Praise Christ," your prayer did not explicitly come in the name of Jesus, which is the only name by which we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He tells us, *"Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* It is only through Jesus that our prayers are heard, and it is in His name that we find salvation, hope, and the power to overcome every trial.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up Your child to You, knowing that You see every tear, every disappointment, and every injustice they face. Lord, we ask that You heal the hurt caused by this broken promise. Replace their disappointment with a deeper trust in You, knowing that Your plans are perfect, even when they don’t align with our desires. Remind them that You are their greatest reward, and that no earthly dream compares to the joy of walking closely with You.
We pray for the neighbors who have caused such distress. Father, we ask that You would convict their hearts—not to bring them torment, but to lead them to repentance. Soften their hearts, Lord, and let them see the error of their ways. If they do not know You, we pray that You would draw them to salvation through Jesus Christ. Give our brother/sister the strength to respond with grace and forgiveness, even as they seek justice. Protect them from further harm, and let Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
For the financial struggles they may be facing, we ask that You provide in Your perfect way. Open doors of opportunity, grant wisdom in stewardship, and meet every need according to Your riches in glory. Turn their heart away from any desire for quick or ungodly gain, and let them find their security in You alone.
Most of all, Father, we pray that they would grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. Let them know the power of praying in His name, and let every request be brought before Your throne through Him. If they have never fully surrendered their life to Christ, we pray that today would be the day they confess Him as Lord and Savior, trusting in His finished work on the cross for their salvation.
We rebuke any spirit of bitterness, unforgiveness, or greed that may try to take root. Fill them instead with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in love, joy, peace, and contentment, no matter their circumstances. Let them experience the truth of Philippians 4:19: *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."*
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
