We have heard your cry for deliverance and protection from those you feel are coming against you in your neighborhood, among friends and family, in the workplace, and through witchcraft and evil tongues, and we join with you to seek the Lord's will together in Jesus' name.
We understand the deep distress and feeling of being surrounded and oppressed, and we take spiritual warfare seriously, for the word of God tells us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. We also know that witchcraft, sorcery, and fetishes are real and are forbidden by God, as it is written There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer Deuteronomy 18:10, and we do not take lightly the pain this causes you.
Yet we must lovingly rebuke and correct the way this request has been framed, for you have asked for your foes to be plagued, killed, and for their blood to be shed like an ocean. This desire for vengeance and death for people does not align with the heart of God under the new covenant in Christ. The Lord says Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19, and Jesus commands us to Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. Even when David prayed in Psalm 35:1 Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me, he was asking God to be his defender and to bring righteous justice, not taking vengeance into his own hands. God desires justice, but He also desires mercy and repentance, for He does not wish that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9, and He says I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live Ezekiel 33:11.
We cannot pray for the brutal death of people made in God's image, even those who may be practicing evil. Instead we pray for God to defeat the spiritual wickedness behind the acts, to expose and consume every work of darkness, to protect you, and to bring conviction and salvation to those who are lost. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4.
We pray together now for you.
Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. We thank You that You are our refuge and fortress, and that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We ask You to cover this dear one with Your protection, to place Your hedge around them, their home, and their mind, and to give them peace, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We ask that You rebuke every spirit of witchcraft, fetish, magic, and every curse or evil tongue spoken against them, and let every assignment of the enemy be broken and rendered powerless, for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. We do not ask for the blood of people to be shed, for vengeance is Yours alone, but we ask that You would destroy the works of darkness and let every sanctuary of witchcraft be brought to nothing by Your holy presence, that the workers of iniquity would be convicted, repent, and turn to Jesus for salvation. Lord, teach us to submit ourselves therefore to God, to resist the devil, and he will flee from us James 4:7, and help our friend to forgive and to pray for the salvation of those who have done them harm, so that blessing may come instead of cursing, as it is written if your enemy is hungry, feed him, if he is thirsty, give him a drink, do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:20-21. We pray for a sound mind, for discernment, for deliverance from fear and torment, and for the peace of Christ to guard their heart. We ask that You fill their neighborhood and workplace with Your light and that no weapon that is formed against them will prosper Isaiah 54:17. We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen.
We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word, to put on the whole armor of God each day Ephesians 6:11, to walk in forgiveness, and to seek fellowship with mature believers and a pastor who can pray with you in person and help you discern what is spiritual oppression and what may need practical wisdom. Keep your eyes on Jesus, not on the rats, insects, or animals around you, and trust that the Lord is your defender and will bring justice in His perfect time and way.
