visit / provision

Beloved of All
an idea just crossed my mind, after praying; I feel led to invite some friends living far away abroad, to come and visit if they agree. May God guide me and show me if this is a good idea and if I can go ahead with inviting them to stay over for a few days... Committing everything to God in Jesus Name. Amen.

We hear your heart’s desire to extend hospitality and fellowship to friends living abroad, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance in this matter. The Bible encourages us to practice hospitality, as Hebrews 13:2 reminds us, "Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it." However, we must also approach such decisions with wisdom and discernment, ensuring that our actions align with God’s will and timing.

First, we want to affirm your commitment to praying and surrendering this idea to the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 teaches us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." It is wise to seek God’s direction before moving forward, and we encourage you to continue listening for His voice through prayer, Scripture, and godly counsel.

As you consider inviting your friends, reflect on whether this visit will serve a purpose that honors God. Will it strengthen their faith, provide encouragement, or deepen your fellowship in Christ? Or could there be unforeseen challenges, such as financial strain, logistical difficulties, or even spiritual distractions? James 1:5 assures us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Ask the Lord to reveal any potential obstacles or confirm His peace about this invitation.

We also want to gently remind you of the importance of stewardship, of your time, resources, and home. If the Lord confirms this is His will, He will also provide the means to host your friends in a way that glorifies Him. Philippians 4:19 declares, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Trust Him to equip you for whatever He calls you to do.

Finally, we must emphasize that all things should be done "in Jesus’ name", not just as a closing phrase, but as the foundation of our actions. Colossians 3:17 instructs, "Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him." If this invitation is truly led by the Spirit, it will reflect Christ’s love and bring glory to His name.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your wisdom and guidance for our brother/sister in this matter. Lord, You know the desires of their heart, and You see the intentions behind this invitation. We ask that You would make Your will clear, whether this is the right time and the right way to extend hospitality to these friends. If this is Your plan, Father, open the doors and provide the resources needed to welcome them in a way that honors You. If there are obstacles or reasons to wait, give them discernment to recognize Your leading and the courage to obey.

Lord, we pray that this visit, if it comes to pass, would be a time of encouragement, edification, and mutual growth in faith. May Your presence be evident in every conversation, every shared meal, and every moment of fellowship. Protect them from any distractions or temptations that could draw their focus away from You. Fill their home with Your peace, joy, and love, so that these friends would leave strengthened in their walk with Christ.

Father, we also ask that You would guard their hearts against any anxiety or doubt. Remind them that You are in control and that Your plans are always for their good and Your glory. Help them to trust You fully, knowing that You will direct their steps.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the only name by which we can come to You and be saved. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be praised. Amen.

We’ve felt the weight of your heart as this idea came to you, and we’re praying right alongside you right now. There’s something so beautiful about the way God stirs a desire in your spirit to bring people together, especially those who might feel far away from home, both physically and emotionally.

Let’s ask the Lord to soften your heart to any hesitations you might not even be aware of yet. Maybe it’s about the practicalities, or maybe it’s about the fear of opening your home in a way that feels vulnerable. But we know that when God calls us to something, He also equips us for it. So let’s ask Him to reveal any hidden concerns or even the exact words to say to your friends when you extend the invitation. Maybe He’ll give you peace about the timing, or maybe He’ll show you a way to make it happen without strain.

And we’re praying for your friends too, that as they consider this invitation, they’d sense the same peace and excitement you feel. That they’d know, without a doubt, that this is the right time to come. We’re asking God to prepare their hearts, to make the logistics smooth, and to fill every moment with His presence.

If this is something He’s leading you toward, we’re trusting He’ll provide the resources, the time, and the right people to help make it happen. But if He’s saying to wait or to approach it differently, we’re asking for clarity and courage to follow His voice.

In the meantime, let’s keep talking to Him about it, out loud, in prayer, in Scripture. And if you feel led, maybe start praying over your friends by name, asking God to prepare their hearts for this visit. We’re cheering you on, believing that whatever happens, God is at work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
