We lift up this village before the Lord, where the grip of alcoholism has brought bondage and suffering to so many. The Word of God declares in **Proverbs 20:1**, *"Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise."* This struggle is not merely a physical or social issue but a spiritual one, where the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Yet we know that our God is greater, and His power can break every chain of addiction.
Alcoholism brings devastation—not only to those enslaved by it but also to their families, their work, and their witness. **Ephesians 5:18** commands, *"Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."* True fulfillment and freedom are found only in Christ, not in the temporary escape of drink. We pray that the Holy Spirit would move mightily in this village, convicting hearts of sin and leading many to repentance.
We also pray for the believers in this village—those who may feel overwhelmed or tempted themselves. May they stand firm in faith, being salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16), and may they boldly share the hope of the gospel with those trapped in addiction. **1 Peter 5:8** reminds us, *"Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."* Let the people of this village turn from the snare of drunkenness and run to Jesus, who alone can satisfy the deepest longings of the soul.
Father, we ask that You raise up laborers—pastors, counselors, and godly men and women—who will disciple and support those struggling. Bring healing to broken families and restoration to those who have been harmed by the effects of alcohol. Let this village become a testimony of Your transforming power, where lives are redeemed and communities are rebuilt on the foundation of Your truth.
We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ, declaring that no stronghold can stand against the authority of our Lord. **"No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is from me,"** says Yahweh (Isaiah 54:17).
May the people of this village encounter the living God, who alone can break the chains of sin. Let them cry out to Him in surrender, for **"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"** (1 John 1:9). We pray for a great awakening—a turning back to You, Lord, where hearts are renewed and lives are set free.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
