We understand your urgency and desperation, but we must address this from a biblical perspective. Firstly, we are instructed in 1 John 4:18, But perfect love is that we walk in love. We are instructed in Ephesians 5: 25, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it. Yet this prayer request seems to demand feelings and specify actions that are not under our control as Christians. Our actions are what we can repent of and choose to do. What is in our heart will flow out of us as actions, words, and deeds. This is what we can choose to control and repent of as needed. As Christians, we cannot just dictate to God what we want Him to make others do. We would also point out 1 John 4:18, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. Because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. We are instructed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
We also need to be encouraged to seek God's will in Jesus name. This request did not mention Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved.
Let us pray together in Jesus' name:
Almighty God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this sister in her time of need. Lord, we pray for her husband, that You would sever any ungodly soul ties that remain from his previous marriage. We pray that You would give him a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within him. Your word says, For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. It is important to guard our hearts with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Therefore, Lord, help him to guard his heart, and keep his way pure.
Lord, we pray for their marriage, that it would be strong and founded on Your principles. We pray that any fear would be cast out and replaced with Your perfect love. Help them to walk in love, and for his love to be patient, kind, and not envious. Lord, we pray that it would be a love that never fails. Help her to see the manifestation of his love through his actions and deeds.
We also pray for this sister, that You would give her peace and comfort. Help her to trust in You and to seek Your will in Jesus name. Lord, give her the strength to walk in love, and she would be patient and kind as well. We pray for unity in their marriage, and for both of their hearts to be turned towards You and each other.
We ask this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage both of you to walk in love and unity. Seek the Lord together, and He will guide your paths. Remember to be patient and kind, seeking each other's best interest.
