We join with you in bringing this hurt before the Lord and we thank you for your honesty in sharing both the pain that was done to you and the part where you recognize your own rebellion allowed things and people into your life that brought more pain.
We see how deeply bullying and the spreading of rumors can wound the heart, even after you have left that workplace. The Lord sees this injustice and He cares about what has been done to you. We are reminded that a perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. Proverbs 16:28. And Jesus said, Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. Matthew 5:11-12. Even when the words spoken about you are false, God knows the truth and He is your defender. We are told, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. We encourage you not to carry the burden of getting even or proving yourself, but to entrust this person and the situation to God who judges righteously.
We also hear your desire for God to put certain things and people out of your life that came in over the last few months. It is wise and biblical to set boundaries with those who draw you into worldliness and negativity. Don't be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. 1 Corinthians 15:33. And we are warned, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. Blessed is the man who doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. Psalm 1:1. Cutting off contact with someone who gossips and harms you can be a right step in guarding your heart, for out of it comes the issues of life. At the same time, God calls us to forgive even as we establish distance, so that bitterness does not take root. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32. Forgiveness does not mean restoring close fellowship with someone who continues to harm you, but it does mean releasing them to God and asking Him to free your heart from resentment.
We want to gently address what you mentioned about being rebellious in certain ways. We appreciate your humility in admitting this, because God honors a repentant heart. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. Rebellion, whether it was ignoring God's prompting, choosing worldly companions, or stepping outside His will, opens the door to pain that could have been avoided, but God is merciful to restore you when you turn back to Him fully. We encourage you to bring those specific choices before Him, confess them plainly, and ask Him to cleanse you and to give you wisdom to walk in obedience going forward. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. And Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name both for salvation and for daily help. It is in His name that we can boldly ask for healing, protection, and a new path.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who has been wounded by bullying and by false words spoken behind their back. Lord, You see every rumor and every hurtful act, and we ask You to be their defender and their peace. Heal the broken places in their heart and bind up their wounds. Remove the sting of those words and help them to not carry shame that does not belong to them. We ask You to silence the lies and to prevent further harm from spreading, and to give them favor and a good name as they move forward.
Lord, we also confess with them any rebellion and any choices that allowed worldly influences and unhealthy people into their life in recent months. Forgive them, cleanse them, and wash them anew. Totally remove from their life anything and anyone that is not of You and that pulls them away from Your will. Close doors that should be closed and open doors to godly community, wise counsel, and friendships that encourage holiness and peace. Give them discernment to recognize worldly enticements and strength to say no, and surround them with believers who will walk with them in truth. Fill the emptiness left by those broken relationships with Your presence.
We pray You will guard their heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and that You will help them to forgive those who have hurt them, releasing all vengeance to You. Restore what the last few months have stolen, and work even this pain together for good as You have promised. Lead them into the next season, including work, with hope and confidence that You go before them. Don't let them be afraid, for You have said, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.
We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace. Amen.
We encourage you to stay rooted in Scripture, in prayer, and in fellowship with a Bible believing church where you can be supported and held accountable. As you walk obediently with the Lord, He will continue to remove what harms you and establish your steps in His goodness.
