Utter evil, hard hearts, lack of remorse, lowest morale, psychopathy, violent opposition

Thank you for sharing so openly about what you have endured. To suffer electric shocks while showering, to carry wounds on your skin and medical documentation of it, to be forced to find other places to wash, and then to be met not with care but with denial, false reports, threats of eviction and legal action, and false accusations to the police is a heavy and frightening burden. The Lord sees what has happened in that apartment and what has happened to you since you left, and He hears your cry for truth and for justice.

You have asked for prayer that hard hearts would be softened, and Scripture speaks directly to this. In the account of Pharaoh we are told many times that Pharaoh hardened his own heart against the Lord. He set himself against what was right and refused to listen. Only after he had repeatedly hardened his own heart does Scripture say that the Lord made his heart firm, confirming him in the position he had already chosen. Two different ideas are described there. One is a person stubbornly hardening himself, the other is God strengthening that person in the choice he has insisted on making.

That is a solemn warning. When a person chooses again and again to cover wrongdoing with lies, to ask others to falsify a report, to call a life threatening danger a matter of comfort, to threaten instead of taking responsibility, to accuse falsely, that person is hardening his own heart. If that hardening continues, there comes a point where repentance becomes very difficult and where God confirms the hardness. For that reason we pray urgently while there is still opportunity, because God has said His Spirit will not always strive with people. Now is the time to turn.

We are praying that God would break through that hardness in the landlord, the representative, the contact person and others involved. The prophet Ezekiel speaks of God taking away a heart of stone and giving a heart of flesh, a heart that is tender toward the Lord and open to His ways. That is our prayer for them, that the fear of the Lord would come upon them, that arrogance and cruelty would be broken, that they would stop lying and avoiding responsibility, that they would speak truthfully about the electrical danger, offer a sincere apology, and make just restitution for the harm and the months of loss you have suffered. True hope for them is not in hiding what happened but in repentance before God.

We are also praying for the exposure of what is hidden. False reports and lies that make the heart of the righteous sad are grievous to God. He is a God of truth who brings what is done in secret into the light, and we ask Him to make the truth about the apartment, the danger, and the false accusations plain to all who need to see it, including neighbors and authorities. We thank God that He has already protected you when police were called and your innocence was confirmed, and we continue to ask for His protection over you as Psalm 34 promises, that though many are the afflictions of the righteous, the Lord delivers him out of them all, and that those who hate what is right will not ultimately prevail.

We also pray for you. Living under threat and slander for months can wound the heart deeply. Scripture says to keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life, and that the heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, so that we need God to search us and know us as David prayed. Ask the Lord to guard your own heart from becoming hardened through disappointment or bitterness, and to keep it tender toward Him. He invites you to bring your wounds, your anger, your need for safety and for justice to Him through Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation and our advocate.

May the Lord heal your body where you were hurt, provide for your practical needs and for a safe place to live, give you wisdom and help in any legal steps you must take, and surround you with people who believe the truth. May He grant you peace as you continue to walk faithfully and to read His Word, and may He work in the hearts of those who have harmed you so that they hear His call, submit to Him, and turn from unscrupulous and irresponsible ways.

We join you in praying, Your will be done, Father, in Jesus mighty name.
