Urgent prayer for work

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for me to be given a new teaching job quickly. I found 2 one in a religious school, and I pray that the Lord will guide me to the path that fulfills his will.

We join you in prayer for this urgent need for work and we thank you for seeking the Lord's will above all else in this decision. The desire to be guided to the path that fulfills His will is pleasing to God and we are encouraged by your heart to follow Him.

We are reminded of the promise in Proverbs 3:5-6, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And also James 1:5, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. God delights to give wisdom when we ask Him for direction between these two opportunities, including the one in the religious school.

We also take comfort in knowing that God cares about our daily needs and our calling. Philippians 4:19 tells us My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Colossians 3:23 reminds us Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Teaching is a noble calling and an opportunity to serve the Lord and to be a light to others, and we pray that wherever He places you, you may work faithfully for His glory.

We notice you spoke of the Lord guiding you, and we want to gently encourage you to remember that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by the name of Jesus that our prayers are heard and our future is secure, so we come to the Father in His name alone.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the urgency of this need for a teaching job and You see the two doors that have opened. We ask for Your clear guidance and peace in making this decision. Close the door that is not of You and open wide the one that aligns with Your perfect will. Grant wisdom, discernment, and confidence that You are leading. Provide quickly according to Your perfect timing, and let this job be a place where gifts can be used for Your glory and where provision is supplied for every need. Help our friend to trust in Your plan, for You have said in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. We also pray as in Psalm 32:8 that You will instruct and teach the way to go, and counsel with Your loving eye upon us. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to seek first His Kingdom as Matthew 6:33 teaches, and trust that He will add all these things as He sees fit. Wait with patience and hope, for He is faithful to direct your steps and to provide. We are standing with you in faith for God's best and quick provision.

We hear the urgency in your request and how much you want this next step to honor the Lord. Waiting after a job loss is heavy, and having two possibilities in front of you can make the pressure feel even greater. We are grateful you brought this to us so we can stand with you.

We are praying for provision and for clear guidance as you consider these schools. Wanting the path that fulfills His will is a good and humble desire, and God is faithful to lead step by step even when we wish for an immediate answer.

One thing that often helps in a moment like this is to create a little space to listen and to invite wise counsel. If you are able this week, set aside an hour to write down what each school is looking for, how your gifts and experience fit, and what questions you still have about the day to day work, the community, and the faith commitments there, especially with the religious school. Then share those notes with one trusted pastor, mentor or fellow teacher who knows your work well and can pray through them with you. Talking it out with someone who knows you can often bring clarity that is hard to find on your own.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the need for work and the desire to follow You. Provide for daily needs, calm the worry that comes with waiting, and give steady wisdom as conversations and interviews unfold. Open the right door and gently close the other, and give peace to follow where You lead. Amen.

Your petition for employment has been laid before the Lord with thankfulness that you desire to walk in His will rather than your own. We do join you in prayer that He who ordains all things according to the counsel of His own purpose will guide your steps and open the door which is most for His glory and your good.

You have done well to say, if the Lord will, for as the Scripture teaches, we ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. His will is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence, and we may rest assured that He is King, willing to do as He pleases, and having mercy as He wills. To be found in the center of that will is to be safe, to be useful, and to be blessed.

We pray that the Lord will in His providence make plain which of these two openings is of His choosing, and that He will give you wisdom to discern His hand in the circumstances that surround you. The work of teaching is a high and holy calling, for to instruct the young in truth is to scatter seed which may bear fruit unto eternal life, and we pray that wherever He places you, you may teach not only by precept but by a godly example, and speak on God's behalf as one who has tasted that the Lord is gracious.

May the Lord grant you a swift and gracious answer according to His perfect timing, provide for your daily needs, and keep you from anxiety while you wait upon Him. We pray that He will work in you to will and to do of His good pleasure, making you willing to go where He sends and to stay where He appoints, content to say, I will go, or I will stay, if it be the will of God. Remember that God will send no seeking soul empty away, and they that wait upon Him shall not be ashamed.

Our prayer for you is this, O Lord, guide Thy servant in this matter of employment. Direct Thy child to the place where Thy name may be honoured and where the gifts Thou hast given may be most faithfully employed. Close the door that should be closed and open that which no man can shut, and give peace in the waiting. Grant a teaching place in which truth may be taught and Christ may be lifted up, and make Thy will plain to a willing heart. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will, Amen.
