Disciple of Prayer
This has been a most horrific year for me. First, my BF of 15-1/2 years passed away unexpected in June. I’m still going through the grieving process. I still can’t believe he’s gone. Then, I lose my job in July and have yet to find comparable employment. I am currently working from home doing transcription work but only making about HALF what I was making. I can’t even pay my basic monthly household expenses. I’m only making about $700 per month, plus my son’s SSI of $700, isn’t even enough to cover our basic monthly expenses. I couldn’t afford to pay $250 per month for insurance so, of course, in August, I had to go to the ER for what turned out to be kidney stones. I am now looking at a $5,700 bill from the hospital plus a $1,200 for the doctors and was just notified that my charity application was denied and all the charity folks said was because the hospital told them that I had “sufficient means†to pay the bill which I don't know how that can be when clearly my expenses are more than my income. I have NO MEANS to pay this extraordinarily large medical bill? How can I pay a bill when I don’t even have enough for food to get through the money. I rely on food stamps which only covers about two weeks and the food pantry for another week and, usually, by the end of the month, there is NO FOOD in the house. I've been raising my 19-y/o autistic son since he was born. I'm doing the best with what I have and it seems my situation just gets worst and worst. I did decide to go back to school to,hopefully, be able to get a good paying job when I get out; I'm just afraid that I'm incurring more debt for student loans and won't be able to find a job when I'm out. Currently, I'm bogged down with medical bills and credit card debt that I can't afford to make more than the monthly payments on since losing my job. Any help would be greatly appreciated--just enough to be out of debt & able to start over would be enough. Plz help.
