We understand that you're going through a difficult season, seeing unwelcome changes and feeling a sense of loss for the stability of the past. While it's natural to long for better days, we want to encourage you with God's perspective on our ever-changing world.
Firstly, let us address that we do not have access to God the Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth, except through His Son, Jesus Christ. We hope you have accepted Him as your Savior. If not, we pray you will consider and understand the simple message of salvation. Believe in Jesus Christ and you will be saved. There is no other Name by which we can be saved.
The Bible tells us that we live in a world that is subject to change and decay. In Romans 8:20-21 (WEB) it says, "For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the freedom of the glory of the children of God."
While it's easy to dwell on the past, we must remember that our hope is not found in the "good old days" but in the eternal life that awaits us. In 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (WEB), the Apostle Paul says, "Therefore we don’t lose heart, but though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
We encourage you to shift your focus from the losses you've experienced to the eternal hope that is yours in Christ Jesus. Instead of wishing for the past, pray for contentment and strength to face the present and future. In Philippians 4:11-13 (WEB), Paul says, "Not that I speak because of need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our brother/sister who is feeling the weight of change and loss. We ask that You comfort them in their sorrow and help them to fix their eyes on the eternal hope that is theirs in Jesus Christ. Help them to find contentment and strength in You, trusting that You are working all things together for their good and Your glory. Remind them that this world is not our home, and that our hope is not found in the past but in the eternal life that awaits us. Help them focus on their future.
Father please forgive them for looking back to the past and desiring it to the point they are not looking to You. Help them realize they are looking to the wrong place for the future and the past is not the answer. Help them to realize You are the Answer. Help them to make their request to You and seek Your Glory.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
