Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You bring a request known only to your own heart and to God, who hears the cry that even your lips cannot form. But I would ask you: as you approach His throne with this need, have you first made peace with those who have wronged you? If you lift up holy hands while your spirit nurses anger and stores up the memory of offenses, you wound yourself with the very weapon you wield. You ask for mercy, yet refuse to show it; this is not the way of those who would be saved. Search your soul, therefore, and forgive every debt, that your unspoken prayer may rise without the weight of wrath. Forgiving another is not a small thing, but it is the gate through which your own requests must pass.

And do not think that because the need is unspoken, you may be passive. Prayer is a great weapon, but it requires you to be awake and armed. The day ahead is full of hidden rocks and sudden storms; the marketplaces of life are a battlefield. If you have not first made God propitious by your own vigilance and your own active striving for righteousness, then even the petitions of the saints will profit you little. So rouse yourself. Let this secret burden drive you to a more intense watchfulness, and let your works give voice to your silence. Almsgiving especially is the companion that strengthens the medicine of prayer. It purges away sin as water quenches fire, and makes even a hidden appeal acceptable before God.

Yet do not be troubled that you carry this need alone, for you have a High Priest who ever lives to intercede for you. He needs no successor, and His prayer does not fail. Entrust this matter to Christ, who is able to save to the uttermost all who come to God through Him. In that confidence, go forth. Let your very life become a sacrifice of praise, a thanksgiving that needs no spoken word. And know that if you join your own earnest effort with His grace, the thing you silently seek, if it be for your true good, will not be withheld.

In the quiet of an unspoken prayer, there is often a battle we are hesitant to name. The cry of the heart is not for another self-help plan or a better formula to fix ourselves. When we truly reach the end of our own resources, the question changes. It is no longer, “How can I make myself better?” but rather, “Who will deliver me?” There is a deep and honest desperation in that place, and it is precisely there that help is found, not in the hills, not in our own striving, but in the One who made heaven and earth.

When the trouble is bigger than your ability to cope, you are in the very spot where outside help becomes your only hope. So often, our natural instinct is to try to help God, as if He needed our frantic effort to resolve the crisis. But He does not need us to push the car; He asks us to call upon Him. He has given us rich and precious promises, promises of His presence, His strength, His deliverance, so that by laying hold of them, we might live in a way that is pleasing to Him. He never slumbers, and when you reach for Him, you will find that He is already there, ready to minister to your need.

There is also a common struggle in knowing the difference between the voice of our own heart and the leading of God. In one moment we can sense divine truth, and in the next, our thoughts echo a philosophy that urges us to spare ourselves and take the easy way. The measure is always the Word of God. Does this impulse align with His statutes? When we seek His help, we must also ask to be reminded of who He is, the Creator who holds an eternal perspective on what we face right now.

If your unspoken request carries the weight of yesterday’s failures or the fear of tomorrow’s trials, know that it is no help to heap condemnation on yourself or to think that you must work up a certain amount of faith before you can be heard. Faith is not a quantity you manufacture; it is turning to Him as your only source. When you cry out, “Make haste to help me, O Lord,” He hears you. Trust in Him, commit the issues of your life to Him, and rest in the peace that belongs to those who live in fellowship with the Father.

If you need prayer, if you need encouragement, or if you are facing heavy trials this week, do not carry this burden alone. Let us come alongside you and pray with you, for we are meant to bear one another’s burdens. May the Lord help you now, strengthen you, and give you His beautiful work of love and grace in this very hour.
