Unspoken prayer

Thank you for entrusting this unspoken need for your family to prayer. God knows the details even when they are not spoken out loud, and He knows the hearts involved. We are joining with you in prayer and agreement before the Father in the name of Jesus, asking Him to work according to His perfect will and love for your family.

Scripture reminds us that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person carries great power. It is not the length of a prayer or eloquent words that make it effective, but faith and sincerity from the heart, often born out of deep need. Like Elijah, who was a man like us and prayed earnestly and saw God answer, we can come with confidence that God hears and acts. When two or three agree on earth about anything they ask, the Lord has promised to hear.

Prayer rests on relationship. Jesus gave a model for prayer that begins with Father, and that relationship is opened only through Him. If we belong to Him through faith in Christ, we can come as children to a Father who already knows what we need before we ask. If that relationship is not yet settled, the first and most important prayer is simply, God be merciful to me, a sinner, trusting Jesus alone for salvation. From that place of being His child, prayer becomes real and living.

The purpose of prayer is not to try to get our own wishes fulfilled, but to see His will done. True prayer begins with God Himself, as He places His desires and purposes on our hearts and we then bring them back to Him. That is why Jesus taught us to seek first the kingdom of God and His will, and then to bring our personal petitions. Your family needs matter deeply to Him, and He invites you to bring them, while trusting Him to answer in the way that brings His kingdom and His best for those you love. Sometimes that answer is comfort and assurance ministered quietly by His Spirit even as we pray.

Prayer takes different forms. There is worship, where we acknowledge who God is as Creator of heaven and earth and give Him glory. There is petition, where we bring our own needs for wisdom, strength, guidance and help. And there is intercession, where we bring the needs of others before Him. Your unspoken request is being lifted in that spirit of intercession, asking the Holy Spirit to help us pray according to what is truly needed, even beyond what words can express. More is accomplished through such praying than we will ever see on this side of heaven, and it is a real spiritual help in the battles families face. There is also deep joy that comes as we spend time with the Father in prayer and then see Him work in His answers.

We are praying that the Father will meet your family in every unspoken area, that He will provide, protect, heal, restore and give wisdom where it is needed, and that His will be done in each life. May He draw each member closer to Himself, give peace that passes understanding, and let you see His faithfulness as you continue to look to Him and lift your needs to Him in Jesus name.
