Unpaid police penalty by the former landlord

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please pray for the former landlord in Jesus' name so that he feels remorse and resolves the issue with the police, both here and abroad, where the penalty is overdue/unpaid

We join you in bringing this matter before the Lord and we thank you for asking us to pray in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we are heard.

We understand your concern about this unpaid police penalty left by your former landlord, both here and abroad where it remains overdue, and the burden and potential complications it may be causing. We know God sees what is done in secret and He cares about justice, honesty, and integrity in all our dealings.

Scripture reminds us that we are to be subject to the governing authorities and to give what is due. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Romans 13:1 and Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor. Romans 13:7 When what is owed is withheld, it is not only a matter with the police but a matter before God, for to do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice. Proverbs 21:3

We also hear your heart not for revenge but for remorse and resolution, which reflects the love we are called to show even toward those who have wronged us. But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Matthew 5:44 and Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19

So together we pray. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this former landlord to You. You know his heart and You know the penalty that remains unpaid here and abroad. We ask that You work in his conscience and grant him godly sorrow that leads to repentance. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, which brings no regret. 2 Corinthians 7:10 Move him to take responsibility, to feel true remorse, and to make restitution and resolve this issue fully with the police in both places. Give wisdom and integrity to the authorities involved as well. For the one who submitted this request, we ask for Your peace and protection, that anxiety would be lifted and that no unjust consequence would fall upon them for another's debt. Help them to trust You and not be overcome by worry, for You have said In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 We ask that You bring this matter to a just and timely conclusion according to Your will, and that even through this situation Your name would be honored and all involved would be drawn closer to truth and righteousness. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to commit this to the Lord and to walk in honesty and patience as you wait on Him. God is faithful to see justice done in His perfect timing, and He will be your advocate and your peace while this is being resolved.

We hear how frustrating this is, waiting on someone else to make right something that still has consequences.

It is understandable to want your former landlord to feel the weight of what is left unpaid and to take care of it with the police, both here and abroad. We join you in praying for that sense of responsibility to grow in him and for the matter to be resolved properly.

One thing we have seen help in situations like this is recognizing what we can and cannot carry. We cannot create remorse in another person, and waiting for it can keep us tied to the injustice gap between how we wish it were resolved and how it is right now. We can still desire what is right and honest to be done, while releasing the need for payback into God's hands, so bitterness does not take root in us.

If this penalty could in any way be linked to you or affect your own record, it may be wise to get clarity for your own peace of mind. Keeping any tenancy agreements or correspondence you have, and quietly asking a local housing advice service or other trusted advisor what, if anything, is yours to do and what is properly between the landlord and the authorities, can help you know where you stand.

Father, we bring this landlord before You and ask that You would work in his conscience and lead him to take responsibility and clear what is owed where it is owed. We ask for a just and orderly resolution with the police in both places, and for protection and peace for the one who wrote to us as they wait. Give wisdom for any practical steps and quiet trust in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing this burden before the Lord.

You ask that the former landlord may be brought to a true remorse and to a right resolution of this unpaid penalty with the police, both here and abroad. We do well to pray not only that an outward debt be settled, but that the heart be wrought upon by the Spirit of God. For there is a carnal repentance which judgment may produce, a repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of sinful nature, which trembles at consequences but gives no glory to God. And there is a true repentance, which is the work of the Spirit, a repentance unto life, which gives God glory even though it condemns the sinner, which sees sin as exceeding sinful and deserving of hell, and which looks out of self to Christ and to Christ only.

We pray that God would grant unto this man that better repentance which is preached in the name of Jesus. Repentance is the gift of God, and remission of sins is joined with it, so that where there is true godly sorrow there is also full and free forgiveness through the finished work of Christ. We ask that the goodness of God may lead him to repentance, not merely the driving of fear or the pressure of penalty, but the drawing of divine kindness which shows the holiness and mercy of God and creates a burning indignation against sin because it is committed against so good and glorious a Being.

True repentance will yield works meet for repentance. It is practical and it lasts. It purges the soul from dead works and brings forth living works, it pulls down what is wrong and builds up what is right. If the Lord grants such a heart, it will desire to honor justice and to make restitution where it is due, to act honestly before magistrates and before God, acknowledging that the law is holy and that to evade its just claims is not to be excused.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou art the God of peace who hast prepared reconciliation through Thy Son, and Thou art also the God of unimpeachable justice. We confess that Thou art just in all Thy judgments, and we ask Thee to work in the heart of this former landlord by Thy Holy Spirit. Grant him godly sorrow for sin that needeth not to be repented of, a sorrow that gives glory to Thy justice and seeks mercy in Christ alone. Lead him by Thy goodness to repentance, and grant him faith to look to Jesus who bore the punishment that justice required, so that justice being satisfied, mercy may be freely given to the penitent. Move him, we beseech Thee, to deal honestly and diligently to resolve this overdue penalty with the civil authorities Thou hast ordained, both here and abroad, that what is owed may be rendered and conscience may be cleared. And grant to the one who has brought this request patience, peace, and trust in Thy sovereign care, knowing that Thou seest all things and wilt do right. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, in whom is repentance and remission of sins. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for bringing this request to us. We join you in prayer concerning your former landlord and this unpaid penalty with the police, both here and abroad.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ that God would work in his heart to bring a true and godly sorrow for what has been left unresolved. Scripture teaches that godly sorrow works repentance unto salvation, a repentance that brings no regret, while mere regret without change bears no fruit. As you have asked, we pray that he would feel genuine remorse, not only with words or tears, but with a repentance that shows itself in action, taking responsibility and seeking to make right what is owed.

We ask the Lord to give him a clear conscience and the willingness to face what is required, to resolve the matter with the authorities where the penalty remains overdue, and to do so honestly and completely. We know that we will give account for our deeds, and that even when a penalty seems delayed, God calls each person to walk in truth and integrity. We pray that he would not harden his heart, but would turn toward what is right, and that God in His mercy would lead him to repentance and to faith in Christ, through whom alone forgiveness is found.

We also pray for you, that God would give you peace as you wait, guard you from bitterness, and help you to trust Him to bring justice in His time and way. May the Lord comfort you and guide every step concerning this matter.

We continue to hold both you and your former landlord before the Lord, asking that what is wrong would be made right and that God would be glorified through repentance, honesty, and reconciliation where possible. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Thank you for sharing this burden and for wanting to pray for your former landlord rather than only against him. That desire itself reflects the heart God wants in us.

Scripture makes a clear distinction between sorrow and repentance. There is a sorrow that is of this world, which is mainly being sorry about consequences or being caught, and it does not lead to life. There is also a godly sorrow, which God uses to work true repentance. Repentance is more than feeling bad. It is a change, a turning away from what is wrong and walking in a new direction. If a person is truly repentant, he does not continue in the same course. He turns from it.

That is why the Bible calls us to bring forth fruit that shows repentance is real. Words or tears alone are not enough. A changed life will show itself in changed actions, including making right what can be made right.

The example of Esau is a warning about this. He wept with tears, but he was not weeping over his sin. He was weeping over the loss of the blessing and inheritance he had despised. His tears were tears of bitterness and anger at the consequence, not tears of repentance for what he had done. Because there was no true repentance, there was no restoration of what he had lost. In the same way, a person can be sorry that a penalty exists or that trouble has come, yet not be repentant before God.

Peter gives the opposite picture. After he denied the Lord, he remembered the words of Jesus and was broken, and that godly sorrow led to a real change in his life and service to Christ. That is the kind of work God does when He brings repentance.

So we can pray for your former landlord in this way, that God would grant him godly sorrow that leads to repentance and salvation, not merely worldly sorrow over trouble with the police. We pray that if he has done wrong, he would honestly confess it to God, receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ who bore our sins and took the penalty for them so that we can be forgiven and have fellowship with God, and then show the fruit of that change by taking responsibility and resolving what is owed. That would mean facing the authorities honestly and paying what is overdue, both where you live and abroad, rather than leaving it unresolved.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we bring this landlord before You in the name of Jesus. You see this unpaid penalty and the way it weighs on the person who has requested prayer. We ask that You work in this man's heart by Your Holy Spirit. Grant him godly sorrow for any wrong, and lead him to true repentance, a real change of heart and mind that turns from evading responsibility. Save him through faith in Jesus Christ if he does not yet know You, and help him to show the fruit of repentance by doing what is right and making restitution where it is due with the police in both places. Give him courage to act honestly and to clear what is outstanding. And for the one who prayed, grant peace, patience, and trust in Your justice and mercy while this matter is in Your hands. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Continue to commit this to the Lord and to walk in integrity before Him. God is able to work in hearts and to bring conviction that leads to change, and He is faithful to care for you as you leave this in His hands.
