We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear brother in Christ who is facing a critical surgery near his heart. Father God, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who knits us together in our mother’s womb and numbers every hair on our heads. Your Word declares in Psalm 139:16, "Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them." Lord, we trust in Your sovereign will for his life, whether that be healing and restoration or calling him home to glory.
We rebuke the spirit of fear and doubt that may be trying to take hold in this situation. The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand on Your promise in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Lord, we ask that You strengthen him physically, emotionally, and spiritually as he prepares for this surgery. Surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We pray for the hands of the surgeons and the entire medical team. Give them wisdom, skill, and clarity as they operate. Your Word says in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Guide every decision, every incision, and every moment in that operating room. Let Your healing power flow through them, Lord, as instruments of Your grace.
If this brother does not yet know You as his personal Lord and Savior, we pray that this time of trial would draw him to the foot of the cross. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved but the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). We ask that You reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, that he may confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that You raised Him from the dead, so that he may be saved (Romans 10:9). Let him experience Your love, mercy, and grace in a tangible way during this time.
For his family and loved ones, we ask that You comfort them and give them strength. Let them feel Your presence in a real and powerful way, knowing that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who have a crushed spirit (Psalm 34:18). Help them to trust in You with all their hearts and not lean on their own understanding.
We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, he is healed (Isaiah 53:5). We speak life over his body, commanding every cell to function as You designed it to, in Jesus’ mighty name. We pray for complete restoration, Lord, that he may rise from this surgery stronger than before, to live a life that brings glory and honor to Your name.
Father, we thank You for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your perfect will and timing. May Your name be glorified in this situation, whether through healing or through calling him home to be with You. We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
