Unbearable stress at my job

We hear the deep anguish in your cry, and our hearts break for the pain and despair you are carrying. The weight of stress and suffering can feel unbearable, but we want to remind you that your life is precious in the sight of God, who loves you more than you can imagine. He sees your struggle, and He is near to the brokenhearted. You are not alone, even when it feels that way.

First, we must address something critical: the enemy of your soul wants to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and thoughts of ending your life are not from God. They are lies meant to rob you of the hope and future He has for you. The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* Your life has purpose, even in this season of pain. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and it is not the answer. God has a plan for you, even if you cannot see it right now.

We also notice that your request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently but urgently remind you that there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or find true peace (Acts 4:12). Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we plead with you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). He alone can carry your burdens and give you rest. He says in Matthew 11:28, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."*

As for the stress at your job, we understand how overwhelming it can feel. The Bible encourages us in 1 Peter 5:7 to *"cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."* You do not have to carry this alone. God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We also encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a trusted believer, or a Christian counselor. Sometimes, stress can be alleviated by setting healthy boundaries, seeking wisdom in time management, or even exploring whether this job is where God wants you long-term. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

If you are struggling with feelings of worthlessness or shame, know this: you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). God’s love for you is not based on your performance, your job, or your circumstances. Even if you feel like a failure, He calls you His beloved child. Romans 8:38-39 declares, *"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."*

We also want to gently ask: are there any areas in your life where you may be turning to things other than God for comfort or escape? Sometimes, stress can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms, whether it be substance abuse, unhealthy relationships, or other sinful behaviors. If this is happening, we urge you to repent and turn to Jesus, who is the only true source of peace and healing. 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."*

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, knowing that You see their pain and hear their cries. Lord, we rebuked the spirit of despair and suicide that is attacking them, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and remind them that their life is valuable to You.

Lord Jesus, we ask that You would intervene in their circumstances. If this job is not Your will for them, provide a way out and open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Give them wisdom to navigate their responsibilities and the strength to endure. Father, if there is any sin in their life that is weighing them down, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them and restore them, Lord.

We pray that You would place godly people in their path—people who can speak life, offer support, and point them to You. Remove any isolation and fill their life with Your presence and Your people. Father, we ask that You would heal their heart and mind. Cast out every lie of the enemy and replace it with Your truth. Let them know deep in their soul that they are loved, chosen, and redeemed by You.

If they do not know You as their Savior, Lord, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Softens their heart to receive Your love and forgiveness. Let them turn to You and find the hope and purpose You have for them.

We declare that this season of suffering will not destroy them but will be used for Your glory. You are the God who turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11), and we trust You to do that in their life. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

We strongly encourage you to reach out to a pastor, a trusted believer, or a Christian counselor immediately. You do not have to walk through this alone. If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to cope, please contact a crisis hotline or seek professional help right away. There is no shame in asking for help—it is a step of faith and courage.

We also urge you to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer, even if it feels hard right now. Start with the Psalms, where David often cried out to God in his distress. You will find that God meets you there. Finally, if you have not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we implore you to do so today. He is the only One who can save you, heal you, and give you eternal hope. If you’d like, you can pray this simple prayer:

*"Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and I need You. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins and ask You to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me the strength to follow You. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen."*

If you prayed that prayer, we rejoice with the angels in heaven! (Luke 15:10) Please let us know so we can pray for you as you begin this new journey with Christ. You are loved, and you are not alone.

We're right here with you, friend. We've been where you are, feeling overwhelmed and alone. But remember, God is always near, and He cares deeply about what you're going through.

First, let's acknowledge the enemy's lies. Thoughts of ending your life are not from God. He has a purpose and a plan for you, even in this pain. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Suicide is not the answer. It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and God has so much more in store for you.

Now, let's talk about your job. It's okay to feel stressed and overwhelmed. God understands, and He wants to help. In 1 Peter 5:7, we're told to "cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." He's right there with you, ready to carry your burdens. Maybe it's time to set some boundaries, seek wisdom in managing your time, or even consider if this job aligns with God's long-term plan for you. Trust in Him with all your heart, and He'll make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We also want to encourage you to seek godly counsel. Talk to a pastor, a trusted friend, or a Christian counselor. Sometimes, just having someone to listen and pray with you can make a world of difference.

Lastly, know this: You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). God loves you just as you are, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). If you're feeling worthless or ashamed, please know that's not the truth. God sees you, He loves you, and He has a plan for your life.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today on behalf of our friend. Lord, we lift them up to You. We rebuke the spirit of despair and suicide that's attacking them, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that their life is valuable to You.

Lord Jesus, we ask that You would intervene in their circumstances. If this job is not Your will for them, provide a way out and open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Give them wisdom to navigate their responsibilities and the strength to endure. Father, if there's any sin in their life weighing them down, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them and restore them, Lord.

We pray that You would place godly people in their path - people who can speak life, offer support, and point them to You. Remove any isolation and fill their life with Your presence and Your people. Father, we ask that You would heal their heart and mind. Cast out every lie of the enemy and replace it with Your truth. Let them know deep in their soul that they are loved, chosen, and redeemed by You.

If they don't know You as their Savior and Lord, we pray that today would be the day of salvation.

Amen.
