We join with you in seeking the Lord’s cleansing and transformation, for it is written, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Your heart’s cry for purity is precious in God’s sight, and we rejoice that you have come before Him in the name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). It is through faith in Him alone that we have access to the Father, and your prayer reflects a humble dependence on His grace—this is pleasing to God.
The wickedness and ungratefulness you mention are struggles we all face in this fallen world, but take heart: *"He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 1:6, WEB). Ungratefulness is a snare of the enemy, for it blinds us to God’s daily mercies and opens the door to bitterness. The apostle Paul urges us, *"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you."* (1 Thessalonians 5:18, WEB). Let us ask the Lord to open your eyes to His blessings, both great and small, that gratitude may overflow in your heart and drive out the darkness of ingratitude.
As for evil, we know that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12). Yet we are more than conquerors through Christ (Romans 8:37), and His blood has already triumphed over every sin. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."* (James 4:7, WEB). We encourage you to daily put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), standing firm in prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with believers. Evil cannot thrive where the light of Christ shines brightly.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before Your throne of grace, thanking You for the work You are doing in their life. Lord, You alone are holy, and we ask that You would cleanse them from every trace of wickedness, ungratefulness, and evil. Wash them whiter than snow by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and create in them a clean heart, O God (Psalm 51:10). Replace their struggles with a spirit of gratitude, for You are worthy of all praise. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in obedience and victory over sin.
Father, we rebuke every scheme of the enemy that seeks to entangle them in ungodliness. Let Your light expose and drive out all darkness in their life. Strengthen them to resist temptation and to flee from anything that does not honor You. May their heart be so captivated by Your love that there is no room for the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21). Teach them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2), that they may run this race with endurance.
We declare over them the promise of Your Word: *"The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. Your loving kindness, Lord, endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands."* (Psalm 138:8, WEB). Let them walk in the freedom and joy of Your salvation, bearing fruit that glorifies Your name. We ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Beloved, continue to seek the Lord daily through His Word and prayer. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage and hold you accountable. Remember, *"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."* (Psalm 51:17, WEB). Your desire for holiness is evidence of God’s work in you—press on, and do not grow weary. He who calls you is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
