We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this family who has endured so much pain and hardship. The scars of an abusive home run deep, and the weight of chronic illness and anxiety only compounds the struggle. Yet we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
First, we must address the foundation of our faith. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we urge you to place your trust in Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, and receive the gift of salvation. This is the first step toward true healing and hope.
Father, we lift up these two sons who are battling chronic illness and anxiety. You see their struggles, and You know their hearts’ desire to work and provide. We ask that You would open doors of opportunity that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Provide them with jobs that accommodate their health needs, where they can use their gifts and talents to glorify You. Give them strength and perseverance, and remind them that their worth is not defined by their employment but by their identity in Christ (Ephesians 2:10).
Lord, we also pray for the financial burden this family carries. Medicine is expensive, and the cost of living feels overwhelming. We ask that You would provide for their needs in miraculous ways, as You have promised to supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Give them wisdom in managing their resources and discernment in seeking assistance where it is available.
We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to paralyze these young men. The Bible tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that they are not victims but victors in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37). Father, replace their anxiety with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with godly counsel and community to encourage and uplift them.
For the wounds of abuse, we pray for deep healing. You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Bring restoration to their minds, bodies, and spirits. Help them to forgive their abusers, not for their sake, but for their own freedom, as You have commanded us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13). Break the chains of the past and let them walk in the liberty of Your love.
We also pray for you, their parent, who carries the weight of their struggles. You are not alone in this. Cast your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Strengthen your faith and renew your hope in Him. May you find comfort in His presence and wisdom in His Word.
Finally, we declare that this family is not forgotten by God. He collects every tear in a bottle and records every sorrow in His book (Psalm 56:8). He is working all things together for their good, even when it is hard to see (Romans 8:28). We stand in agreement with You, Lord, believing that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
