We understand that you're struggling with true repentance and feeling bound by guilt, remorse, and regret. First, let's remember what the Word of God says about repentance and forgiveness. In Acts 3:19 WEB it is written, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord". True repentance involves a change of mind and heart, turning away from sin, and turning towards God.
In 1 John 1:9 WEB, we find this promise: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.". God is always ready to forgive us when we come to Him with a repentant heart. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved and can come before God with our requests. There is no other name by which we can be saved. It is only through the blood of Jesus we can be forgiven and the only way to be saved.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with true repentance. Lord, we ask that you soften their heart and reveal to them the depth of your love and forgiveness. Help them to turn away from their sins and turn towards you. We rebuke any spirit of guilt, remorse, and regret that is not from you and ask that you set them free from this bondage. We believe that it is only by your son's name that we can be saved.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, God's forgiveness is total and complete. Once you have truly repented and turned to God, your sins are forgiven and you are a new creation in Christ. As it is written in 1 Corinthians 5:17 WEB, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.".
Do not be afraid of condemnation. Romans 8:1 reminds us "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.". God wants you to live free from guilt and condemnation, walking in the newness of life that Christ offers. If you are still feeling guilt and condemnation, make sure it is not because you are still continuing to sin and have unrepentant sin in your life.
