My favorite NFL team is the Atlanta Falcons; so naturally, I was elated when God spoke to me about the colors Red/White/Black. It was confirmation to me, that He had, not only heard my prayer; but that He too was a Falcon fan (no rebuking, it's just humor ya'll).
God gives assignment in part. He will either give us detailed instruction and we must trust him for the outcome (Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Joshua). Or He will show us the outcome and we must submit and commit to His instructions, when given, along the way. Even when it doesn't seem to have anything to do with what He has shown us, we must trust Him (The Blessed Virgin Mary, Abraham & Sarah, Joseph (son of Jacob), myself and others).
God uses the familiar to get our attention. But His thoughts and ways are much higher than ours. So just when I had gotten comfortable in my satisfaction that it was all about "dem" Falcons, God revealed "His" purpose for the colors. Black and White being either end of the racial spectrum (and every race in between). Red being the Blood by which (as His children) we are all related. Yet, we have wearied and committed treason against the Sovereign One with our foolish racial divide and reckless disregard for the lives of children (His favored): Police shootings, inequality in housing and education, and imbalance in a justice system that strip many of these little ones of their earthly fathers. Moreover, we have dishonored the Blood which defines us all as His, EQUALLY! The Blood sacrifice of "His own child" and only begotten Son, Jesus.
God did not create one race superior to another. To define any race inferior is to likewise define God as inferior, in that we were all created in "HIS" image. BUT GOD is faithful to give us another chance. Wearing the (3) colors may seem ritualistic or even gimmicky, as did many instructions in the Bible: Jericho March (7 days), leper dip (7 times), fasting (7days), Jesus, himself had a ritual (Luke 22:39). There's also significance in the number of colors. The divine number 3. Not representative of (me, myself, and I) but, to bring into remembrance (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). It's all about God's glory.
The only color of supremacy in this trio, is the color RED.
AMEN!
(The Falcon petition still stands)
