We join with you in lifting up the Pacific Islands before the Lord, crying out for His mercy and protection over these lands that have already endured so much. The storms and earthquakes that have struck are sobering reminders of the fragility of life and the urgent need for hearts to turn to the One who holds all creation in His hands. You have rightly called upon the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14, which declares, *"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."* This is not merely a call for physical safety but a plea for spiritual awakening—a turning from sin to the Savior who alone can bring true restoration.
We echo your prayer for the people to prepare practically, for weather systems to function accurately, and for alerts to reach every person in harm’s way. Yet even more, we plead with the Lord to prepare hearts. Let the approaching storm serve as a divine alarm, shaking the people from complacency and driving them to their knees in repentance. The corruption among government officials is a grievous sin, and we ask the Lord to expose it, convict those involved, and remove those who refuse to turn from their wickedness. Proverbs 29:2 warns, *"When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan."* May the Lord raise up godly leaders who will govern with integrity and justice, and may those who have stolen, indulged in immorality, or squandered resources in selfishness be brought to repentance or removed from their positions of influence.
We also lift up the preachers and pastors across these islands, asking the Lord to anoint them with boldness and clarity as they stand in the pulpits this Sunday. Let them not shrink back from declaring the whole counsel of God, including the call to repentance. Ezekiel 33:6 is a solemn warning: *"But if the watchman sees the sword coming and doesn’t blow the trumpet, and the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them; he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand."* May every watchman blow the trumpet loudly, urging the people to flee from the wrath to come and turn to Christ for salvation. Let there be no bloodguilt on their hands but instead a mighty harvest of souls as hearts are turned to the Lord.
The call for repentance is urgent, for Acts 3:19-21 declares, *"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Christ Jesus, who was ordained for you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things."* Oh, that the Lord would pour out His Spirit upon these islands, bringing revival and refreshing! May the people turn from idolatry, sexual immorality, greed, and every form of wickedness, and may they embrace the forgiveness and new life found only in Jesus Christ.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up the Pacific Islands and their people. You are the God who calms the storms and shakes the nations, and we ask You to extend Your mercy over these lands. Prepare the people practically, Lord, but more than that, prepare their hearts. Let this storm be a wake-up call, driving them to seek Your face in repentance and faith.
We pray against the corruption that has infected their leaders. Expose the wickedness, Lord, and bring conviction upon those who have ruled unjustly. Remove those who refuse to repent and raise up godly men and women who will lead with righteousness. May the people cry out against injustice and turn to You for true leadership.
Strengthen Your servants who will preach this Sunday. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may declare Your Word with boldness and without compromise. Let them sound the alarm, warning the people of the judgment to come and pointing them to the cross of Christ, where mercy is found. May many turn from their sins and place their faith in Jesus, experiencing the times of refreshing that come from Your presence.
Lord, we ask for revival. Let these islands become a beacon of Your grace, where lives are transformed and communities are restored. May the name of Jesus be exalted, and may Your kingdom come in power.
We rebuked the forces of darkness that seek to bring destruction and despair. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command the storm to be stilled and the enemy’s plans to be thwarted. Let Your peace reign over these islands, and let Your salvation be their everlasting light.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
