Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord with compassion and hope.
We understand how heavy this burden has become. The pain in your tongue, mouth and tonsils, the fear of cancer or a tumor, the discouragement of seeing the white coating return after you thought you were healed, and the longing to speak freely again can fill the soul with anxiety. It is right to bring that fear and grief honestly to God, as Christ himself showed us how to speak in sorrow and in fear, saying, not as I will, but as you will.
God cares for both soul and body. While our deepest beauty and health is spiritual and cannot be withered by disease or anxiety, the Lord also sees the body he created and hears every prayer for healing. The tongue is like the hand with which we lay hold of the knees of God in prayer, so we come with a clean heart, confessing our need, giving thanks, and asking for mercy.
Do not let fear drive you into constant dread, as if you must live in endless worry about what might be found. In Christ we can have security and liberty, asking without anxious scrupulosity, trusting that he knows what is best and that his care remains steady even when healing seems delayed.
Let us pray together for you now.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, we ask you to calm this troubled soul and grant peace that guards the heart. Lay your healing hand upon the tongue, the mouth and the tonsils. We ask that you would show mercy and, if it is your will, let there be no cancer and no tumor. Remove the white coating from the sides of the tongue and cause the white lesion on the tonsils to disappear. Restore health so that speaking may be free and without pain, and let all healing be for your glory.
Give wisdom to the doctors and guidance to seek proper medical care, and give patience and trust while waiting for answers. Keep the tongue from despondency and teach this dear one to speak as you would have us speak, with faith, thanksgiving and hope, even in trial. We ask this through Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and healer. Amen.
Continue to bring this request to the Lord each day, and continue to seek medical attention as you are able. The Lord hears those who call on him, and whether he brings immediate healing or sustains you through a longer trial, he is able to use your voice and your life for his glory.
