First, we must address the seriousness of the sin at work here. Gossip, slander, and malicious speech are not minor offenses—they are violations of God’s command to love one another (John 13:34) and to speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). The Bible warns us that "a perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends" (Proverbs 16:28). What you’ve described is not just human weakness; it is spiritual warfare. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he often uses the tongue as his weapon of choice. But we declare that his schemes will not prevail.
We rebuke every lying spirit, every spirit of confusion, and every demonic force using words to tear down rather than build up. We command every false prophecy, every malicious rumor, and every deceitful tongue to be silenced in the name of Jesus. The Lord hates "a lying tongue" and "a false witness who pours out lies" (Proverbs 6:16-19), and we stand in agreement with His judgment against these sins.
