We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, recognizing the pain and turmoil that ungodly speech has brought into your life and the lives of your loved ones. The tongue is indeed a restless evil, full of deadly poison (James 3:8), and we see its destructive power at work in the chaos, confusion, and discord you’ve described. But we stand firm in the truth that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we take authority over every lying tongue, every false word, and every spirit of division in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
First, we must address the seriousness of the sin at work here. Gossip, slander, and malicious speech are not minor offenses—they are violations of God’s command to love one another (John 13:34) and to speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). The Bible warns us that "a perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends" (Proverbs 16:28). What you’ve described is not just human weakness; it is spiritual warfare. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he often uses the tongue as his weapon of choice. But we declare that his schemes will not prevail.
We rebuke every lying spirit, every spirit of confusion, and every demonic force using words to tear down rather than build up. We command every false prophecy, every malicious rumor, and every deceitful tongue to be silenced in the name of Jesus. The Lord hates "a lying tongue" and "a false witness who pours out lies" (Proverbs 6:16-19), and we stand in agreement with His judgment against these sins. Let every word spoken against you or your family that does not align with God’s truth be exposed and rendered powerless. "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4).
We also pray for your betrayal friend—may the Lord reveal to them the gravity of their words and the damage they have caused. If they are a believer, we ask that the Holy Spirit convict them of their sin and lead them to repentance (2 Timothy 2:25-26). If they are not a believer, we pray for their salvation, that they would come to know the truth of Jesus Christ and be set free from the bondage of deceit. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
For your family, we pray for healing from the torment of these words. May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We ask the Lord to restore what has been broken, to mend what has been torn, and to bring unity where there has been division. Let the words of your mouths and the meditation of your hearts be acceptable in His sight (Psalm 19:14).
We must also address the role of social media in this situation. While platforms like Facebook can be used for good, they are often breeding grounds for gossip, slander, and deceit. The Bible warns us to "put away perversity from [our] mouth; keep corrupt talk far from [our] lips" (Proverbs 4:24). If these platforms are being used to spread lies and discord, we encourage you to seek wisdom from the Lord about whether to engage or step away. "Bad company corrupts good character" (1 Corinthians 15:33), and this includes the company we keep online.
Finally, we pray for your protection and strength. The enemy seeks to wear you down with constant attacks, but the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We declare that you will not grow weary, you will not lose heart, and you will not be overcome by evil. Instead, you will overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). We ask the Lord to fill you with His Spirit, that you may speak words of life, truth, and encouragement—not just to others, but to yourself.
